BBD5's Journal, 08 January 2013

Today is another day..Past few days I have been trying to get my garage organized and "TRY" to get the house back in order from the Xmas decorations and putting the gifts up etc etc etc.. Still haven't completed the garage going to try and get it together by end of the week..
Anyway, challenge did come right on time - I've been really bad at posting in the challenge. My TOM got me down a little last week, and I had MAD sweet tooth cravings.. got hooked on Sugar Free candies and was kinda scared they would make me stall.. The candies had a laxative affect on me (so I heard that was a good thing) ;) Even though I was eating the candy and knew it was a possibility that I would stall I didn't care.. I kept going for it!

3 pound loss on the Weigh-In this morning! Even at 1 pound or ounce loss each time I get on the scale I am happy. I'm trying so hard not to rush or push this because I know that the weight didn't sit on me overnight! This is a process and I am learning daily how to get this under control. So glad that I have this site/group and of course all of you ladies for the support and motivation. I really don't think I would have lasted this long (been dieting since Oct 1st 2012) without you all..

This year I am focused on losing this weight, getting my house organized - getting rid of papers that I haven't touched for years, basically need to start doing things for myself.. An occasional movie, lunch or dinner with a family member or friend or maybe even taking a drive by myself! I am determined to put myself in the "picture" instead of sitting to the side..

So I say all this to say.. I'm working on me and I'm loving it!

Let's all hang in there!! Continue on our Journey!

Congratulations on the awesome loss!!! Those pounds are falling off of you and that is fantastic. Like you I have been trying to get Christmas packed up. Everytime I turn around I see something else that I 'forgot' to take down or pack up. Getting there though. Those are some great goals and some that we all need to try to keep in mind. I know this will be our year.

That's brilliant! Staying on the diet wagon for so long is really impressive and its fantastic that you're seeing the positive results on the scales! I love the sound of your general resolutions for the year too, they sound very healthy and well adjusted. Its so easy to sit back and not get things done or go out enough. I certainly get in those ruts very easily indeed (I sometimes think my default mode when I'm not trying to improve myself is hibernation from the world), but being aware of it and making a commitment to change works wonders. Even if I don't enjoy a social event, I'm still proud of myself for choosing to go and putting myself out there! I hope 2013 is a great year for you, it definitely sounds like you're on the right course to make it so!

Girl, girl, girl!! You're only a pound and a half away from losing 30 POUNDS!!! That is so awesome! You definitely are one determined lady! I've been there to see you struggle at times and you always fight through it. All of that is paying off! You're changing the way you see and think about food and you've got that long-term goal in mind. All the weight that comes off while you're making this change is just a huge bonus! I'm so proud of you and so glad that we're friends :)

Yay Dorotheeeee! Missed your weigh-in post because I turned into a pumpkin on the East coast at nine (?!?) last night. You know I'm proud of you♄. I love that you are shedding your 'stuff' at the same time you are shedding your weight. It's symbolic, our clutter, unnecessary possessions, detritus from our past; they are all our emotional weight that keeps us from being our next best selves. Being a mom (or head of household mom) means doing that purging for everyone. That can be hard. I remember having to put all the old toys and yes I'm talking the McDonald's Happy Meals j.u.n.k. in a box and hiding the box in the trunk until the kids were back in school after summer or Christmas break. Toys they hadn't played with in a year became their 'favorite' the minute they found out it was going bye-bye. Just have to take that stuff out in the middle of the night!!! And with us too. We are improperly attached to the past. Cleaning it out, losing the weight, moving on; you go Dorothy!

Dorothy! You are doing so well! I'm glad that the sugar free candies are working for you. Honestly, I don't know what I'd do some days if I couldn't have them. I'm in the midst of a "house clean out", too and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed but mostly, I'm feeling relieved. Every box that leaves the house feels like a reclamation. You are doing so well and I'm so proud of you. If I lived closer we'd totally go out for a girl's day.
