While I love my days off from work, they tend to wreak havoc on my otherwise diligent diet schedule. Ordinarily, when I'm on shift, I get up at 6:30AM and my breakfast usually falls between 6:45 and 7:00, followed by my hour-plus long getting ready sesh and then my twenty-five minute commute in rush-hour traffic. I'll say this...I really wish I could calculate just how many calories I burn every morning, 'cause I'm pretty sure when you're as animated a driver as I am when it comes to traffic, the number should be pretty high...

Anyway, I digress.

On my days off, I like to sleep. A lot. A whole lot. Like...all day, a lot. I tend to be on college time, which means my waking hours are somewhere between 3:00PM and 4:00AM. The past two days, I've woken up no earlier than 2:00 in the afternoon, which means that I end up completely skipping out on breakfast and my mid-morniing snack, as well as having lunch later than I should, which in turn kind of ruins me for dinner. And considering I've been trying not to eat anything after 6:00PM, this poses a problem. Today, for instance, I was still pretty stuffed from lunch when I started to make my dinner, but I knew that if I bailed on dinner, I'd be hungry later on and that would prompt me to feel like snacking.

For someone will a still delicate sense of willpower, this was a chance I was NOT going to take. So, I made a good dinner, scarfed it down, and I feel moderately triumphant, if not a little stuffed.

I'm hoping to add in some exercise soon, but I just have so much trouble finding concepts I like. If I do something that is so obviously exercise-ish (elliptical, weights, cardio, treadmill, etc), I know that I'm exercising and that bugs me something fierce, which then causes me to not want to do it. That's why I tend to shy away from gyms--not only because I'm intimidated by the machines, but also because I feel like anybody who sees me in there will know why I'm there. A dumb reason, I know, but something I hope to get over. My sister has a membership to Planet Fitness and she can bring people for free, so I plan to take advantage of that at some point.

Just not any time soon.

Anyhoo, I like dancing, so I'm thinking about looking into zumba. I want my ass kicked, but I want to have fun doing it. Same for yoga and pilates--I need a little healthy relaxation in my life, so I'm looking into that, as well.

One thing at a time, though, right?
