Djburney's Journal, 07 January 2013

Well this is great! The weight is falling off, I'm feeling really good, and I may have figured out why I wasn't losing before. If this keeps going under 190, I will have solved my no-weight-loss problem. It comes back to...don't eat too much. And don't drink alcohol very often. And keep the carbs low, fat high, protein moderate. It's working for me so far, and I'm pretty happy.

What a nice weekend I had, fun social evenings, and quiet productive days. Yesterday I cleaned out my dresser drawers (still finding "fat" clothes), went for a nice long hike, made a delicious salmon dinner for myself, read a good book. Empty nest is underrated.
198.6 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 34.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Sounds like you've figured out the best plan for your body. I agree-alcohol can derail; my progress...and carbs just don't help!

Great news! So nice to hear you found something that works for you. I do find that cutting out the alcohol has a profound effect all on its own. Sad, but true! I love cleaning out my drawers and closets to "cull the herd", LOL. And it's so much nicer to be getting rid of clothes that too big rather than the other way around! Every stage of life has it's perks and I am sure the empty nest stage is no exception. I can't say that I'm looking forward to my daughter leaving but the idea of having the house to myself while hubby is working and having one less person messing up the house sounds rather appealing :) Enjoy!

The place where I do my weigh ins says that the body treats alcohol like carbs. Even though the listed grams of carbs for a drink might be low, it should be considered a non-low carb item, according to them. I am glad to hear things are going well for you. I need to get back on your dance(hiking) card. As to your question yesterday, I do have to watch my calories on the low-carb plan, both for too much and for too little. If I go too far below 1200 calories in a day, I tend to stall.

I knew you would get back on track fast! Way to go! Your weekend sounds marvelous! What are you doing with your "fat" clothes. Mine are in a pile - some were expensive so I'm wanting to take them to a consignment shop.

Ha well...I've donated some of mine to a very good cause...a friend who is losing and is going to eventually catch up to where I am and REACH HER GOAL. I think consignment is a great way to go if you don't have a good cause like mine.
