I tried brussels sprouts tonight for the first time ever. I've always thought they would just be nasty for some reason, but I have to say, (like I've heard so many others say before me), they are my new favorite veggie :) I sauteed them with olive oil, onion and a few different varieties of Mrs. Dash and they were absolutely delicious. I wish I could have eaten the whole bunch lol.

I also took an updated comparison photo today (Share Your Photos and/or Measurements). I was actually shocked at how "skinny" I'm looking lol. I don't see myself quite like that when I look in the mirror. I mean, I see that I've lost quite a bit of myself, but, to me, I look smaller in the photos.

For those of you who haven't taken any "before" photos yet, DO IT NOW! I waited until I'd already lost 20 pounds, and I've always wished I had done it sooner. They're very inspirational and they just make you wanna keep going!

I think brussel sprouts have a bad reputation and so most people don't eat them assuming they would not like them. We love them and 2 of my kids have always considered them their favorite!! Good for you for giving them a chance :)

Brussel sprouts are great, especially just slighty steamed and used as the base of a salad. You look Marvelous.... You can tell, especially the side view. Great job Angie

Thank you guys! :) I really love trying new things, and the majority of the time, I like whatever it is. Growing up, our main vegetable was always potatoes, maybe some green beans now and then, but never brussels sprouts. Maybe people think differently about them because they look funny? Not sure what the deal is, but I'm so, so glad I tried them. I actually thought about using them in my salad, Patrick. I may do that today if I can contain myself from scarfing them all down by themselves lol :)

Thank you, Jamie! I'm not sure I can get anyone else in my family to try them or not. They were all complaining about the smell in the house last night when I was cooking them lol. To me, they smelled great. I have a strange family lol.

WAY TO GO ANGIE! Oh my goodness you are such an inspiration! Look at you- it looks like you've just chopped half of yourself off and handed it to someone else. --you could have been twin too HAHAHA! I absolutely love Brussels Sprouts but no one else in the family will eat them and they all complain about the smell. Well guess what-my dad will be gone for work for a couple weeks and mom will be working during the day as usual so I get to eat LOTS of Brussels sprouts over the next three weeks. I hadn't even thought about using them as a base in salad. That'll be my next try. Sounds delicious!

Congrats on the weight loss! I'm not gonna lie.. I'm one of those people who just assumes they won't like brussel sprouts and due to the fact that my boyfriend doesn't eat about 95% of veggies i highly doubt I will get him to try them with me..

As for the sprouts it's all in the prep! Mom used to just steam them and YUCK! (Although I'll even do that now and then now) Then I had then roasted once at a dinner and I've been a fan ever since. It was good seeing pics in your old clothes but now that you have one with clothes that fit you really can see it!!! GREAT JOB!!!

Okay, y'all are makin' me hungry now for more sprouts! LOL! Sauteed with bacon!! Oh my stars! WHY in the world haven't I thought of THAT yet!! I'm having that tonight for sure!! Thank you!! .. Rachel, girl, you cook the heck outta those sprouts this month! You'll be eatin' good! Stpierrem1, I know how you feel. No one else in my family really likes veggies either and like I said, they always complain about the smell, but pfft on them LOLOL! I really was surprised at how good they are! Tracy, roasted sounds yummy, too! Do you put anything on them before roasting them? Girl, I had to retire those old clothes. I still have them, but the front of the shirt comes down so far that it's not appropriate to wear out anywhere hahaha! Thank y'all so much for your comments and support. You guys are awesome! :D <3

I've no time to cook lately, two jobs, The salad I referred to before is from Chelsea's Kitchen in Phoenix http://www.chelseaskitchenaz.c... And yes they saute it in bacon with spiced almonds and top it with Manchego Cheese, to die for and total atkins approved.

It sounds awesome! Wish I could find Manchego Cheese! I did saute them with bacon and some onion the other day and it was delicious. I'll have to try it in a salad and add some cheese next time. Hadn't thought of that yet! :D

Angie, line a pan with foil, drizzle with olive oil and a sprinkle of salt and pepper if desired. Turn to coat in the oil. The oil keeps them from getting dried out as they roast. Check on them every 10 minutes and stir. Yummilicious. My yankee friends taught me this way a few Thanksgivings ago. Brussel sprouts are a cool weather crop so we probably did not see them in the south until modern transportation changed us from locovores (people who eat locally grown, seasonal food).

Thanks for that info, lbsgoner! I'm definitely gonna try them roasted!
