Day five and I'm still feeling really good--no lethargy or fatigue or the bloated-ness that have been a prominent addition to my overall person for way too long. I've been following my diet with almost militaristic dedication; the only thing I haven't done is set a definite calorie limit for myself. My RDI is around 2000, but since I'm still not as active as I should be, I've cut it down to about 1600 or below and that's usually based on what exactly I make for dinner. Breakfast and lunch and my in-between snacks are easier since I can make them in advance so I'm ready to go for work the next day, but dinner is something I like to plan out a little more diligently and actually cook.

That's my new goal: actively cooking dinner for myself. I'm a fan of the HealthyChoice microwave meals, but I also like to use them in actual recipes, especially since, more often than not, I never find them filling enough. Take last night for instance: I nuked a HC Honey Balsamic Chicken meal and then added an additional chicken breast and a cup or two of spinach and a quarter of a cup of ricotta cheese and stirred everything together on the stove. Then, for guilty pleasure's sake, I had a ciabatta roll with some yogurt-butter spread. Not the best meal I've ever had, but it was tasty and satisfying and I will certainly make again in the near future.

I'm the queen of random concoctions, so I think I'll be just fine. There's just too many possible food combinations for me to get bored anytime soon.

The same can't be said for exercising, but I'm trying to find something that I'll be able to do on a regular basis without wanting to rip my hair out.

i could have written the first part of your journal. :-) I started (possibly like many) on the first, so this is day six for me. I feel great, most of the time. I have a toxic relationship with food and i know that. I have to stock my kitchen with TONS of fruit so that i don't go to artificial sweeteners or sugar. :-( i'm a sugar junkie. lol. but anyways, about the exercise. if you like nature, like me, there is nothing more satisfying than walking outside...jogging if you can. I can't ... but i would prefer ten to one working out outside to inside, but i like my gym too. :-) It's comfortable ... just pick a machine, name it, and make it your bestie. my bestie's name is Carmen, she is an elliptical ... and she misses me sometimes. but i always go back to her. :-) I'm a dork, but it works for me.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of nature, but once the weather gets warmer (my area is currently buried under a ridiculous amount of snow) I intend to take advantage of my surrounding suburban development and do some walking. Until then, the TimeWarner exercise channel will be my friend lol. And, FYI, there's nothing dorkish about naming inanimate objects--I do it all the time. =)
