debzc's Journal, 07 May 2008

I can't believe how long it's been since I last journaled. I've had a lot going on - some good, some not so good.
Good News:
I went to the dr. and my cholesterol dropped over 35 points! How cool is that. No longer in danger, yeah! My kidney continues to give me trouble but it's something treatable!
I had a birthday and I'm another year older!
Two days prior to my birthday, I welcomed a new grandson into the world. He's a beautiful boy!

Not So Good News:
My mom, who is cronically ill, had a set back and was in the hospital for over a week. That was hard and will continue to be so. We are at the point where she needs a home health nurse. She's feeling better though so life is good.
I continue to be an emotional eater! It's crazy because now I was so aware of what I was doing, yet I continued! I've had 2 great days in a row though (and that's good considering .....No excuses!) And, I picked up some info about emotional eating and I am reading.

So now I'm catching up and find the "50 pound weight loss" challenge. I'm really looking forward to this and feeling motivated again! I love and need these challenges! I'm glad I'm back! I"m able to get caught up now, a little. I hope everyone is doing well!!!

Congrats on the lowered cholesterol and new grandson! Sorry to hear about your mom's health issues. I'm glad she's feeling better. Good job reading up on the emotional eating and for being aware of it. Recognizing it is the first step to conquering it. Good luck with the new challenge!

Good to see you back, and with good news on the health front! Congratulations on the safe arrival of your new baby grandson - what a great birthday present!! Sorry to hear about your mum, that must be really tough - and is exactly the time when emotional eating can strike hard. Good luck keeping it in check, and good luck with the new challenge!

Great news about your cholesterol and I love hearing how this diet is improving peoples health like it did for me and my hubby! affirmation is great, isn't it! So sorry to hear about your mother. It sounds good that she is feeling better. I wish you and your mom the best. that emotional eating is a bugger isn't it! A doc told me once that one of reasons we do it is because it works! He said there is evidence to support that you cannot worry or fret while eating. Of course it comes back as soon as your done chewing the last bite, but while you are eating it works. I guess that made me realize that I didn't want to keep stuffing myself full of food all around the clock for "temporary" relief. Its sure a difficult thing to get under control though but it sounds like you are winning the battle, and your chart proves you are winning the battle. Now you are even armed with more information from your book. You are soooo going to win this battle!

Fantastic news on the lowered cholesterol and the arrival of a new grandson. Aw, sorry to hear that your mum has been unwell, but under the circumstances I think you have done great! Awareness I think is half the battle of emotional eating... so just having that will be the start of overcoming it. Good to see you back though and getting involved in a new challenge. I wish you the best of luck and keep up the great work. ;o)
