fatoldlady's Journal, 27 December 2012

So four days of cleaning and I just finished the living room, four day for one room. And the worst thing is it just looks like a gave it a good vacuuming, dusted and staightened up. I have way to many knick knacks and plants. 35 plants in total and each one had to be trimmed, the dead leaves picked off and washed. I think I spent a day just doing the plants, some of them are quite large. I got a large garbage bag full of plant trimmings. Vacuumed up enough dog hair to stuff a cushion and got rid of all the dust and cobwebs. Everything was removed from the shelves and dusted and all the funriture moved and cleaned underneath. Tomorrow the dining room. Hopefully that will only take one day, less plants, less furniture, less dust collectors.

We have really hard water here as well. I use rain water to water my plants which is quite easy in the summer, just put a rain barrel under the downspout. In the winter I melt snow to water them, my neighbours must think I'm crazy when they see me taking shovels full of snow into the garage. When I water them all it takes between 15 to 20 gallons of water, thats a lot of snow.

Make sure you log in exercise diary all the housework you are doing. It counts. I have plants too but the all hang. After living in Hawaii for 7 years, all the house plants for northern cliate pretty much grew in my yard. I am slowly succumbing to more each year. Our water here is awfulk too but we have a whole house osmosis system.

WOW Good for you. That is a LOT of cleaning. I thought getting my living room kitchen and 7 loads of laundry done over christmas was an accomplishment. Want to come work on mine next?

You sound like me. In the mood to spring clean in the winter! I've been cleaning closets, cupboards, etc. I'm purging junk out of my house. As I've gone through things, if I haven't worn it or used it in over a year then it's time to get rid of it. I don't know how I collect so much junk. Keep up the cleaning--with everything you clean, you burn calories.
