Good morning!

I was hoping to yell out a woohoo! today, but it ain't gonna happen. I am UP 800 grams, after a normal day. Of course, we gotta consider that I don't really know what weight I'm supposed to be, because of my new scale. I'll just have to take it and see where I can go from here.

It's a little hard on the mind, going through a Low Cal Day, and not see a result (because I don't know the starting point), a regular day with a large gain, and then motivate to do a Low Cal Day today.

Well, steady as she goes, Captain. We'll just keep the ship cruising and see what results will be in tomorrow. Hopefully, they're good.

It's hard - I was hoping for a good result tomorrow. Even if I DO have a good result, I won't know it, because of the scale. It'll take a full extra week to really see if there is a difference.

I know that several of you buddies have started doing similar things to what I'm doing. How are you doing? Are you seeing any results?

...

I stayed within RDI yesterday. Maybe some of my choices weren't as smart as they could be, but I did stay in the green on the RDI. Christmas snacks were attacking from every angle, and we had a couple of meetings that had bread and cheese served. Maybe those are what has affected my weight this morning, RDI or not. At least, it won't be a real fat gaing then. My scale, though, says that I am up a notch in Fat%. I don't know.

The result yesterday - and I think that is one of the issues - was that I kept being hungry. I felt that I needed something all the time. I ended up doing a boiled egg with a little extra lean ham after dinner, to shove in a little protein. That helped. I also went to bed early, simply to get my mind off it.

I really don't like feeling that way. It sucks.

Anyways, chin up, Keld, and move along. Today is gonna be a much better day.

I did work up hungry today though, and this might - MIGHT - be a challenge. I am hopeful that I can deal with it. Hunger doesn't just get worse and worse, it comes in waves. After a while it'll pass and I will be just fine.

I'm gonna have a nice day at work, focus on the job and not on the food (or lack of). I will do as I am expected, and see what results I can wring out.

Last week I was at 89.somthing on Thursday morning. It'll take a miracle to get there this week. And even if I did, who knows if the scales measure the same? I'd say there's a good chance they don't. - so is it really comparable?

Today, I'm thankful for:
- The outlook for a fairly easy Low Cal Day. Easy because I feel that I know how I will react.
- Morning coffee.
- No massive issue with "having breakfast" with Wife. Her eating. Me NOT eating.
- Mentally prepared for the day.

Steady as she goes Keld! Did you get a new scale like the old scale with all the gizmos on it? Just do what you can today, and not worry about it. We will win this g.d. war!

Mentally prepared is key, I think. I still haven't found a hospital that will do all the baseline tests I'd like to have done - blood, cholesterol, liver function etc. If that doesn't happen by this weekend I'm planning to just have regular bloods and start the 5-2 type of thing next week. In the meantime, I'm getting mentally prepared, and also physically by really trying to reach optimum nutrition on at least 90% of my food choices - no rubbish. Like I said, I'm already feeling the benefits of that in more energy and hardly and PMS symptoms.

Mental preparation is ABSOLUTE key, Karen. Going the day without breakfast and lunch is SO MUCH EASIER when you aren't expecting it. It'd be much harder if you had lunch plans, they got canceled, and no replacement food. That would make me starving instantly. This way, even if I feel a little hunger, it's not something I can't handle. Of course, it's still early day. If all else fails, I can shift Low Cal Day to tomorrow, but I really don't want to.

As your old scales have been "playing up"... I would think they may have been giving you slightly "off" measurements. Go with how you 'feel', you know your body by now.... Do you 'feel' as if you have lost... Are your clothes a little looser? That's the real measure. Go by that for a few days instead of a reading on a machine :-). Good luck dodging the Christmas goodies today

LOL, it's hard to dodge today, Pam. THERE ARE SO MANY FRICKIN CANDIES EVERYWHERE! I did choose to have ONE, and left it at that. I am hungry today, and opted to have a 50 calorie Knorr asparagus soup. It was super delish, and I think it helped me out. I can not go face the next meeting, and the snacks, and politely behave. I'm looking forward to dinner, but it's not gonna block every other thought all day. I can easily stay within my alotted 600 calories today, even if I would have preferred to have them ONLY at dinner. The alternative would have been to go for a "normal" day instead, pushing Low Cal Day to tomorrow, but I really want it over with. Besides, I am curious to see what the scale says tomorrow morning.

Ive noticed any time I eat before going to bed I wake up to my stomach growling. Wonder what causes that? And I'd blame the bread for the day long urge to graze - always has that effect on me.

UPDATE: Today WAS hard. It's 5:30 PM, and I've had dinner. I did go over my RDI for the day, but not much. Probably 100-200. It's okay. I can live with that. :) The alternative was to have cancelled Low Cal Day, but I think I'm close enough that it'll work out for me. I'm done eating, I enjoyed the meal I had for dinner. Life is good. Now, let's see the damage (or, hopefully lack of) on the scale tomorrow. I'm hoping for a huge loss to actually show a weight loss over the course of the last week (if we assume the scales show the same number, had my old one not broken), but I doubt that it'll happen. I'll have to drop 2.4 kgs to break even. Not very likely. Still, life is good!

Yes Keld. Life is still good!!! I fear I didn't calculate my calories well today ... potlucks are difficult. I ate mostly protein, had a regular breakfast, but did indulge a bit in some absolutely delicious scalloped potatoes our admin assistant made. YUM. Oh and one small piece of a brownie left in the break room earlier in the day. I haven't decided if I am eating dinner or not. I have baked chicken here so I have a good choice but I'm not yet hungry!! Yesterday's low cal day was pretty easy. No big loss today though and I'm still up 3.2 lbs from last week at this time. Dang. And I HAVE THE SAME SCALE!!! I'm with you though ... steady as she goes ...
