WHY??? Why can't I lose weight. I'm so frustrated right now I want to cry...actually I am crying. What is wrong with my body? I don't know what else I can do. I've been the same weight for 2 months, and I work so hard at it and it just won't come off. I don't think I am ever going to reach my goal weight or even get below 190. Is this what I have to live with the rest of my life? I've tried low calorie and hcg, which is where the majority of my weight loss came from, and then low carb high fat without worrying about calories, and then low carb high fat with low calories, intermittent fasting, exercising, I DON"T CHEAT. So why???

I want it so bad, this is not fair.

The "why" is rhetorical, there is no way anyone here would really know why. I'm going to see a weight loss specialist. I bought the ketostix, it is always negative. There is something wrong. I think I screwed it up with 6 months of very low calorie with hcg.
192.8 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 28.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 4.2 lb a week

You are an awesome person. Keep things in perspective. Tell me a few positive things you are going to tell yourself today. I'm with you.

I am sorry for your pain & frustration. I understand it very well. I've been stuck in the 170's since June! I really hope the specialist can help. Just don't give up. You are worth the effort. You can do it!

I'm not a professional but maybe add some more or longer or different exercise to your routine. I was on a plateau for about a month, and I just changed my routine a bit added in some dance exercises and longer walks with my dogs, ate more leafy greens and the pounds are falling off, oh yahoo and lots and lots of water. I don't believe in fasting your body needs wood to burn, not to mention if I fasted I would think I would be soooo hungry the next day and just plain worn outI wouldn't be able to function right. Screws your system up. But again this is just personal opinion, just don't give up you can do it you just have to find what works for you.

You are going to be fine because of your determination! For you not to turn purple with in 2-3 days there IS a reason. From your food dairy I am seeing that you SHOULD be losing, so there is something holding you back. It could be hormons or a supplement you are taking. I will go back and re-read my 1970 Atkins book for you. Just for S---- and grins, try only low salt meats, eggs, a little hard cheese, for today and see if you show any color on the sticks by tonight or tomorrow. I wonder if it takes awhile for the effects of the hcg to leave your body? Don't know too much about hcg. Atkins was originally called "the drinking man's diet" because it allowed you a social life and still lose weight. Hang in there and enjoy your nights out.

I've given up all grain products, most fruit except a few berries once in a while, all sugar, all starches, in fact, my carbs are extremely low, usually under 20-25. A couple of glasses of wine once in a while cannot be the problem. I've given it up for weeks at a time with no change. I guess you could call it my cheat, but really, according to my research, it shouldn't be a problem in low amounts occasionally. (dietdoctor.com) As far as fasting goes, once again I've done my research, and it is actually a healthy thing to do. I have plenty of "wood" on my hips. I'm not going to give up, and I guess if I remained at this weight, it wouldn't be awful. I am a very positive person, a problem solver, and I'll get this. Thanks for your suggestions and support.

Greetings: what I learned about intermittent fasting is that it is about a "window" of eating time during each day - not total days of fasting. For example you csume all your calories between 8am-4pm and then nothinng until the next morning at 8am. Just a thought...the other thing that stalls me is when I do not eat enough fiber - I know you take a supplement, but maybe you need true fiber in foods. Just "brainstorming" with you! Hang in there...

Fasting is controversial thing Many studies show that it doesn't really do anything for the body because the body works naturally to get rid of waste. Other people swear by it. But all that low calorie and different diets may have slowed your metabolism. You might think of having your thyroid checked, just to be sure it's nothing medically. Going to a specialist might help too. It's so difficult to say what it may be. If your weight stays the same but you are losing fat/inches than your are doing something right. I wish I could offer more insight, but keep changing things up and trying.

I appreciate the responses. I see an endocrinologist for my thyroid, and it has been getting progressively better since I started losing weight. I was on 325 mcg, and I am down to 187.5 mcg now. I see her next week, maybe she can offer some insight. I met a weight loss doctor from San Francisco on a flight in September, I emailed her and she suggested I try her online program hellogreenlite.com. That will be my next step, although I might have to go to the Bay area to get a prescription in person from her, California law. Oh darn, a trip to San Fran. She prescribes metformin which is a type 2 diabetes medication that helps with insulin resistance in some patients. I'll figure this out, I've never been so determined to finish something as I am with this weight loss project.

DJ - please just take a few mins to breathe, look at your before & after photo, and let yourself be happy and enjoy your achievements. Your life is more than a number on a scale and your health is too valuable. Ironic - I started my new way of life to avoid the further complications diabetes medicine would bring me and you're wanting to take it to move a scale. Please remember the origin of from where you came and wrap your slender arms around yourself and give yourself a hug and a pat on the back instead of beating yourself up.
