kingkeld's Journal, 14 December 2012

Good morning, friends!

So, I'm after my first "normal" day of my new system. I was curious as to how it'd work out, and what the weigh-in was gonna be. Well, there are good news and "bad" news.

I'll call it "bad" because it's about a gain, but not anything unexpected, and I know perfectly well why.

I gained 900 grams!

Here are my reasons:

1. I haven't had a whole lot to eat the last few days. System is emptying out.
2. Wife made beans. LOVE beans. I probably ate too much, weight wise. They were very reasonable on calories, so RDI was all okay.
3. I had dessert. Still well within RDI, but still weighing me down.

I can live with that.

Now, for the good news.

As you know, experimenting with my new diet, I'm checking my fat percentage. I am so happy I did. Yesterday I reported that I was way down to 18.7. This would indicate that a big weight loss is coming. Well, it didn't come today because of other factors, but today it is at a super low 17.6%. That is amazing!

I like the fact that I can see a FAT LOSS when I don't see a weight loss. This is EXACTLY what I hoped for.

Obviously, following a diet that has so many different intake levels will mess with your day-to-day weigh-in.

I'm a control freak, so I need to know what's happening to my body EVERY day, also for me to be able to report to you guys about my new system. We need to know.

But as I have stressed before, the ups and downs are pretty intense, and might not be comfortable for other persons to see. Weekly weigh-ins are probably a good idea. I would recommend doing them after fasting day number two, as they show good numbers. Then STAY THE HELL AWAY from the scale until next week. The numbers a few day after will show a MUCH higher weight. Or, if you like, you could weigh in after Indulgence day and take the high number. Weekly. Not sure what's better. Personally, I'd prefer the low number. :)

Today is another "normal calorie" day. RDI is at 2300. I wonder if that will make my weight go up again, eating more, or if it will simply stabilize? Time will tell.

I'm still all excited about the 17.6% fat. That is amazing. To give you an idea, I registered at fat% of 22.5 on the 29th of November, so two weeks ago, give or tak. That is a reduction of 5% body fat in two weeks. How about that! Of course, these are not precise measurements, but they aren't all that bad either, I'm sure.

With a weight of approx 90 kilos, just about 200 lbs, that would be 10 lbs of FAT lost in a few weeks. If that is not an accomplishment, then I don't know what is. I'm simply amazed.

Anyways, not that much more to report today. I will be looking at your journals later, commenting here and there. I have SO many journals that I read daily, and I apologize if my comments sometimes are a little superficial. I try, though, and I always read what my buddies write.

It's fun to read how you guys are picking up on my new plan, even if I have told you I'm not even ready to share. I gotta see what happens when I do my own system, before I "release" it.

however, it's not too hard to work out what I do, and I have seen several just taking it and running with it. I appreciate that. I appreciate you being pioneers with me. :)

Just know that you're in uncharted land, and I don't even know if what we're doing will actually promote weight loss. I think it will, and I see results in myself though. Let's hope it works for everyone. It would be amazing to have this in a system. Those of you who I know that will be doing this, I'm following you. I appreciate that you keep updating your journals, it's interesting to see what's going on through those low cal days. Let's all learn from each other.

Not gonna be doing much today. The Black Peanut is on holiday break, so no music tonight. I'll have to figure out other shenanigans. I'll probably be watching movies and shows with Wife.

I have some packages in the mail, I need to go pick them up. I purposefully asked for them to be held at the post office, so I will have to walk there to get them. Exercise, maybe not a lot, but better than nothing. Also, I've been standing up at work all week. It's a habit I'm really trying to get back into.

Today, I'm thankful for:
- Dropping 5% in fat over the last weeks. What a realization!
- Waking up early. Doing dishes. Prepping breakfast. Weighing in. Writing journal. All before Wife woke up. It's nice to have time like this in the morning.
- Morning coffee! Salute!

It's Friday - enjoy the day, enjoy the weekend! Life is good!

Keld ... remember the video? The narrator followed a two day a week low calorie day for 5 weeks and he lost weight. I don't think he was even counting calories on his non-restricted days!! So ... I do think this is a valid weight loss approach. Of course he didn't have an "indulgence" day that we know of but still. AND the research I think in Boston has folks on an alternate day plan, "fast day" consisting of the restricted calories then a feed day where they could eat whatever they wanted. They've had good results so far too!!! So ... I don't think I can go wrong with trying this. It's true ... weight fluctuates ... but for myself ... that happens with almost any way I eat, so I'm not too worried. Anyway ... cool about the fat percentage. I stepped on my smart scale the other day and quickly jumped off. I think my fat % was like 40%. EGADS!!! All the more reason to do this!!!

Thanks, Moose! I'm in no way concerned about the weight gain either, it just bugs me a little when it comes. I think it's a natural thing for us "losers". I'm sure this works. Also, do remember that the ladies naturally have a higher fat percentage than men. Sure, you can survive losing some of it, but you will probably never reach the lows that the guys can.

ha! love the fact I will always be fatter than you!! lol!!! I'll be curious to see what the scale does for me in the morning. I'm about ready to turn in and I still didn't reach my RDI today. I did have some snacks tonight but still ... oh well ... I hope it isn't a problem. It is so strange for me ... usually I struggle and for whatever reason I am not this week, well not the same struggles anyway. Have a great day!!

It sounds like you're doing well. I have been off of here months as you know, and when you have weight issues (in the past or not) long term it is not good to have no support like this site. I am back to cutting out sugar and may ease back into low carb but I will see.

Interesting & encouraging :) Enjoy your normal cal day - I wonder if you'll reach RDI?

Karen, I'm not sure I'll reach it, unless I go for bad stuff. I did yesterday, and really didn't feel too good afterwards. I can tell today that I had too much heavy food. I'll try to not repeat that today. RDI is 2300 calories today. That's pretty steep. I usually do just fine on 1600, so 2300 is quite a mouth full. Pun intended. And welcome back Glenn! GOod to see you!

You can do it! I hope you reach you RDI without reaching for something no so good.

Wow... 5% fat loss... That's amazing. You are right not to worry about the weight gain, as you have been loosing... So this is just water weight :-). Incidentally, are you still drinking as much water?

I'm still drinking lots of water. I feel that it helps me "process things" and keep me from feeling hungry. And yes, essentially we're talking water (and beans!) weight. :)

Impressive #'s so far esp with the fat % loss!

Got some good news today - and it's celebration time. Off to the Chinese! lol. I'm glad I have more calories than I would have before I started this venture! I will stock up on Mongolean BBQ, not bad on calories. I'm sure I can go without maxing RDI, but can't really get to fully calculate it. I'll simply make that my "maxing out" meal, and leave it at that. Life is good! (more on the news tomorrow!)
