I baked 5+ dozen homemade sugar cookies today. I made the batter from scratch, rolled them, cut them out, cut open strategic holes in the top neck area for the metal hanger, baked them in batches of 6-9 due to their large size, cooled them, decorated them.......but didn't eat them!!!! (Or any of the others at my Mom's cookie exchange.) So proud!! I did taste a TINY bit of dough since it was a new recipe (which called for almond extract, which I've never used before) and caught myself licking my finger while frosting. But hopefully not too bad. Mom made Grandma’s famous stove top bean dip but with ground turkey. So I did have that- SO good. It’s been awhile. But she also had cheesecake, pumpkin bread, and an egg-less chocolate cake-GAH! Weren’t the cookies bad enough?

I created "ugly Christmas sweater" sugar cookies-6 different sweater shaped and frosted designs, with baked-in hangers that actually hung from a "clothes rack" for the display. This took me at least 12 hours, not to mention the 2 hours it took for DH to make me the metal hangers and time to shop for the clothes racks. But I didn't win. Some chick bought a glass star bowl at Hobby Lobby and decorated it with cellophane, ribbon, and a star ornament. GAH!!! And to top it off, the judge was my Dad!!! (Though he didn't know whose cookies were whose) Next year I'm going to have a "headache"!!!!

Now I have all the other people's cookies filling up my house. Luckily I have my backyard neighbor's 40th birthday tomorrow, My "Girl's Night In Friends and kids/wine night at my house while hubby is out of town" on Saturday, my "family game night" crew of friends and their kids over for Christmas exchange and games on Sunday, my work interview and Son's choir concert on Monday, Son’s Boy Scouts Den meeting and Daughter's choir singing at local Hockey Game on Tuesday, Girl Scouts on Wednesday, Daughter's Choir concert on Thursday, and my Friends 45th Surprise birthday party on Friday the 14th. I'm sure I can find some people to pawn these carb bombs off on to.

Ok, I'm exhausted just typing all that out!! My next "free" evening is Sat 15th-but you know someone will come up with something for that day too. SIGH! And after that we still have Hubby's work Christmas party, friend's Christmas party, Girl Scout Christmas party (which they asked me to host and Hubby SMARTLY declined), Boy Scout Pack meeting where I have to come up with a Hanukkah presentation (which I know nothing about), and my Sister and her Hubby coming up from California. And I've only bought 2 gifts yet. GAH!!!! I need a wife or a manager! I swear that since I've been unemployed, so much stuff has risen to occupy my time that I can't remember how I dealt with it all AND a full time job!! (I suppose I just say “No!”)

And my van’s transmission has gone out. I can’t shift above 1st gear. Hubby’s truck rear brakes are bad and it shutters when he brakes (kinda scary), and Hubby wants to demo and redo the upstairs main bathroom because he’s a teacher and has an extensive Christmas break to do the work. We’ve finally picked out the vanity and counter top with under mount sink, medicine cabinet, and mirror (though haven’t purchased it). We will need to demo the current 81” 1960’s lower drawers/cabinets, upper cabinets, and the nasty white tile counter top. Then we need to floor tile the space underneath, drywall, fix and paint walls, re-route electrical plug-ins, and change out the lighting. I say “we” because I am actively involved in these projects, participate (but not in the electrical!), and grout. I am head of demo (which I love! I’ve hated this bath since we moved in 8 years ago! Shower area will be next!) We have decided to forgo my idea of 2 sinks due to plumbing issues and availability.  It would have been very good with 2 growing kids. I am really excited about doing this bath; however I am not sure about the timing. With me being out of work right now and even putting it on a “one year, no interest” credit card makes me nervous. But Hubby on “vacation” without a “project” also makes me VERY nervous!! If his back hasn’t been giving him so much trouble, I’d recommend he rake the 35+ yard bags of leaves we still have in our yards.

Ok, that’s about it for the cathartic release I’ve received from blurting everything that’s bothering me here. If you’ve actually read all of this, God bless!! I can’t believe I’m living it, let alone to read it.
Trying to stay strong! Waivered a bit, but there is always tomorrow!!

Lordy, woman! That is a lot to do in a short period of time! I was just complaining the other day that I've got NOTHING going on for the entire season. I think I'll keep that to myself now :-) All three of us are off for 11 days this month and haven't figured out what we are going to do with ourselves.

You know what? I could not do all that sh*t and survive. And I don't just mean having all that sugar right in front of my face. I do not know how you do it. You are absolutely awe-inspiring, and not just because I am a sloth. Seriously, how did you manage to NOT stuff your face full of delicious sugar? I couldn't do it. Not if they were right there. Have I mentioned how much I love sugar cookie dough? Ugh, ugh, ugh. I'm proud of you, Soup.

Good night!! How did you even find the time to post all that?? Wow - I admire people like you who can do more than one thing at a time :) You'll get it all done and done well I predict - you seem very motivated! I'm pullin' for ya!!!
