BuffyBear's Journal, 19 November 2012

Have discovered that Mondays are going to be hard. Since I now get up at 3 AM (to see DH off to work) I find that I am hungry. Very hungry! This morning I cleaned up a plate of brownie crumbs and then moved on to egg salad on toast.

To summarize - I have eaten half my calories for the day before breakfast! No, this is not good.

Strategy for next Monday: Plan an nice "on-plan" breakfast for myself.

New strategy for weigh ins: Since Mondays are out, will record 3 times a week - Tuesday, Friday & Sunday. And yes, I will record this Friday (after Thanksgiving). Might as well see how much damage I've done!

Note to self: Move forward. Size 10's for Christmas? I am the only one who can make this happen!

For you my friend it's Mondays, for me it's Sundays! Love your strategy & note, and ready to move forward with you. The planning is crucial & plan to take it one day, meal or moment at a time. Hope the rest of your Monday goes well & you get some rest today!

Bren - Lets hope it is fluid! Enjoy your Holiday trip!

Ruhu - I guess the first step in solving a problem is identifying it. Best of luck planning your Sundays!

Hi Buffy- I can relate with the very hungry feeling and eating your RDI before noon- some days if I'm up early and eat certain things it is like a switch goes on and I'm on a feeding frenzy--I have triggered the sugar monster again this weekend and I need to get rid of it pronto, it is rearing its ugly head too often for good results. Good luck getting your plan activated to tackle some upcoming eating events like Thanksgiving, Christmas etc.

Hi Buffy the other day I had a melt down, I had been "good" for so long that I broke down and had 3 reeses peanut butter cups... and I didn't even feel guilty about it. I just knew that the next day, I had to diligently get back on track. What I'm trying to say is that it kick-started my weight loss again. I have lost 3 lbs. since then and that was just a few days ago. Don't be too hard on yourself, sounds like you're right on track....Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Awww Buffy a bit of emotional eating because your hubby is going away on Mondays - at least you realise this and are making a future plan for it :)

Emotional eating, stress eating, lack of sleep eating... it's all the same. You see the pattern and this will pass. Plan your snacking on Mondays, as you said... stay on plan. You can do it, lady! It's just getting used to a new routine. Last night... we had a great dinner... Micky fixed up steaks... it was all ready when I got home. Well.. he went to bed early and that is when I found the "bag". He went to the store yesterday and bought another bag of Hersheys miniatures. OMG! I wish he had not done that. I have no will power. I was in that bag and ate and ate ate. Stupid ol' me. Comfort food, I guess. So we both have a new routine to get accustomed to. We can do this. Hugs!

Same thing happens to me when I'm up early and I don't even approach the "early" time that you do! But at least you've identified an issue that will recur often enough that you need to develop a strategy to handle....which you're already doing. Good for you. These things happen but give yourself credit for identifying what's going on! As for a Friday weigh-in.....might I suggest foregoing that one and just going on to Sunday or next Tuesday? Just something to think about if there's any chance that weigh-in would put you in a bad mood and/or be de-motivating going into the weekend. Just sayin'..... Hope you can catch a quick nap after work. :)

I am feeling for you, 3 am is a horrible hour to get up, 4:45 is early enough for me! So it seems like perhaps you would have a chunk of Buffy-time on your hands...so, might I be the bad one to suggest an early morning excercise session as a way to curb the hungry munchie monster. Having a snack plan will help an awful lot too, so just a thought.

Newmooney - Yes, something about being up too early makes my tidy little plan fall straight to hell! Not to worry - together we can exterminate those Sugar Monsters.

To All - thank you for your encouraging comments! I feel like am complete wimp but I have to go to bed. Enjoy the rest of your evening!

3 am?!? I guarantee I would be going straight back to bed after saying goodbye to DH.. Haha.. Hope your plan for next Monday works out! Get some good sleep!

I go through that, Buffy, since I'm up around the same time. But, like Gigi said, the wee hours of the morning are so much the best time to get things done that I just get involved and don't think about breakfast until it's later. But you're right. When you eat breakfast around 4:30, you gotta have lunch before noon. But I find that I'm not really that hungry for the dinner meal and I'm anxious to turn in early. You'll make it work. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, my friend.
