I'm trying a new approach. Even with extremely low calories, I'm not dropping much. Thanks to a FS member, I've been researching Low Carb High Fat (LCHF). There is a lot of science behind it, and I was sure not hungry yesterday. I've known for a long time that "a calorie is not a calorie," and that eating whatever I want as long as there is a deficit does not work. Calories in-Calories out is the biggest crock I ever seen masses of people believe. If it were true, I would be skinny by now, not languishing at the same weight for 3 weeks eating less than 1000 calories a day and walking up hills everyday for an hour.

It's a risk, this might not work and I might gain weight, but I'm willing to chance it. Hello butter, cheese, cream, and eggs! Goodbye grains, potatoes, rice and fruit (mostly)!
192.8 lb Lost so far: 54.8 lb.    Still to go: 28.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

That can work for you - I have seen it work for many people. I know I do not do well with grains, potatoes, rice in there too often...but I don"y do as well with too much fat either...it's all a "crap shot" about what works - you just have to be willing to experiment and see what best works for yo. Another theory is eating too few calories makes the body hold on to the fat thinking it needs it to fuel your exercise because yu are not giving it enough - it's all about tricking your metabolism!

I agree it is worth a shot. One thing we all realize is that our bodies are all different and what works for one person doesn't for the other. I have seen some people have down days and up days in calories and do it that way specifically. I know in the past having an 'up day' for me has worked so my body does not re-set it's metabolism. I try to keep my calories at the RDI for my age that Fitday recommends. I try to stay under but at least have a couple of days that I get it up there and it is not always easy. I am drinking a 'bulletproof' coffee that I read about from a FS group. It is no carbs, high in fat and not too high in calories. It actually does make me feel full and satisfied. I think sometimes this whole experience is an experiment! Just hang in there!

The low carb WOE definitely helps me. I don't shy away from fat, but I don't go out of my way to eat it, either. I will be very interested to see what you think of it. One of my FS friends has a coffee recipe that I have been dying to try but haven't gotten motivated enough to get all the ingredients. Not sure if it is the same thing as Jaime is referring to. I'll forward it to you.

The coffee recipe I have is: I use 12 oz of coffee, 1 teaspoon of butter, 1 teaspoon of coconut oil (some people use a tablespoon but I only use the teaspoon to keep the calories down). This is all some people use, but I add two tablespoons of Torani Sugar Free Vanilla syrup. You melt the coconut oil and butter and then blend it with the coffee. I was really leery of it...I mean really butter and coconut oil in coffee? But I must say it is REALLY yummy. Good luck!

I do watch calories but I take one day a week and eat whatever I want. It seems to be working but I know at some point I can't expect to 1) drop to an extreme # of calories because my body will hold onto every one I take in out of survival and 2) I would KILL EVERYONE in sight!! I just keep going and hoping for success ;) and I hope your plan works for you too sweetie!! We got this :)
