Well today was both excellent and bloody stupid.

The course was excellent. I can highly recommend the Frui Beginners photography class. It was a perfect refresher having not touched an SLR in a decade or more.

Took a couple of snaps I was was quite happy with:



So ready to try and put this into practise next week at London Comic-con.

Met up with a family friend for a drink and proceeded to drink way too much diet coke, and smoke a lot.

As I left very early this morning (and because the restaurant/hotel where the course started was more than a little disorganised) I managed not to eat all day (We tried to order an antipasti platter in the pub about 20 minutes after they stopped serving food). So I ended up having a couple of ready-meals when I got home as I was starving.

Really not good as it means I am below my calorie count again. And I forced myself not to give in to the temptations of the artisan bakers. Or the guy selling rare breed sausage rolls outside the Butcher... Sitting here now I realise I should have just had it (the Sausage that is... I think I would have emptied the Bakers *drool*).

The wrist is improving steadily. But I still can't do a lot of things I take for granted (like chopping vegetables). And when I forget and do something habitual (like shaking hands or grabbing my bag off the luggage rack on the Train) it bloody hurts.

For the record we didn't just do B&W I just preferred those 2 pics. And so did the tutor. Even if when he was judging the days photos it looked (because of the small screens on the cameras) like he was punching one of the others.

Aww...glad to hear the wrist is improving. It is easy to take things for granted like that, really provides perspective when you are humbled by an injury. I know that feeling all too well. Beautiful photos!! Seriously!

I always preferred b&w photos. They always seem much more real and dramatic. I love the second in shows the strength of nature over humanity. Well done :)

Thanks, I really liked these 2 pictures. The first one I was trying to emphasise the steepness of the hill, but I think I went too far. The 2nd is rather nice If I say so myself (the Tutor ranked in the top 3 pictures of the day, so yay though IMO the other two were much better). It really woulnd't have worked in colour. The tree is in that grotty early autumnal state before the leaves really turn. The green is fading and it's starting to go yellow. In 2 weeks time it will be all yellows and reds and look spectacular.

You should always look at the composition and decide what you are trying to depict, what is the subject trying to convene. Its amazing what different angles and filters can give you
