Eringiffin's Journal, 19 October 2012

Today I am feeling fat. TOM is in full swing and I just feel "wide". It's days like these that I really want to load up on carbs, wrap myself in a blanket and forget the world exists. Unfortunately, I still need to pay my bills and I have no wiggle room for a cheat day at this juncture. So, time to stop complaining and buckle down to fight the good fight.

Today I am thankful it is Friday. I am thankful that my shower is fixed and I can now take hot showers with good water pressure again. I am thankful for payday.

Diet Calendar Entry for 19 October 2012:

Oh, I'm loving hot showers with this cooler weather; helps start the day off right. I'm glad your shower is fixed, too! I don't have TOM issues any more, but I feel the same way once a week after a neccessary medication injection the night before. I used to treat with sweet & salty carbs, warm blankets and good books; now I use caffeine and exercise, shopping for and preparing healthy food, and then and resting with a good book. Isn't it great, the accountability of recording things in your food diary? Of having people here to talk about this stuff with? I've been struggling lately with staying within my RDI, but I'll keep going, just like you will. We're all in this together, right?

Thanks Staci and Kat. It really does help to know I am not alone. The caffeine trick seems to be working as well. Gonna have to butt-kick myself to the gym as well.

Weather the storm Erin.....this time will pass and remember short term binges lead to long term guilt and regret.....

The warm blankets are good - but instead of loading up on carbs - what else might be a "treat" for you? A massage, a pedicure, a bouquet of flowers, a silky sweater - oh wait it's probably 90 degrees in AZ today..umm...ice water, a favorite old DVD, a snuggle with the dog (how is she these days?), a warm bubble bath/shower? ANYTHING else but food.

Thinking of what we can do to avoid snacks. Maybe if we overloaded on water that would help. TOM and I broke up about 10 years ago but I remember her as if it were yesterday. :( Breathe in some fresh air - lots of it maybe on a long walk. My best to you to feel better real soon!

Tracy, you are the voice of reason that I depend on to bring me back on track. HCB, the dog wants you to know that she loves your suggestions, hehe, except she would also prefer food to be involved. She seems to be doing fine but we have another vet appointment on Monday for more blood tests. Funny how they are charging $136 for a test they call "free".

Yes - if I had been smarter in science, maybe I would have gone to vet school! LOL!

Erin if I keep saying it to all my buddies....it eventually sinks into my resistant brain:)
