HCB's Journal, 02 October 2012

Reviewed my weight history to see what I was doing when the scale better reflected a loss - although I was eating healthy fats through almonds, avocado, etc., I believe I just had too much fat last week compared to previous weeks.

SO, I will go back down to around 30g per day, or less, to see if that pushes things along this week.

Yup, it always feels like a science experiment. Different things work at different stages. I am shooting for a loss of six pounds per month - I am into losing the "hard" fat now!

My DH and I just planned a short trip to New Orleans in the first week of March - and I would like to be at goal or close to goal by then. Losing 30 pounds in five months seems reasonable if I can lose six pounds per month.

Of course, that means continued, consistent, and conscientious effort! And, "butt-kicks" daily! Had another good workout this morning!

Still grateful for:

- The good health of my loved ones
- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today
- My DH - who is my greatest "cheerleader"
- My Bengal cat companions named Bodhi and Ravi
- My work - which has meaning and worth to other human beings
- My connection to the Mother Earth and its entire splendor
- My physical health

Good job going back and assessing your intake from the past compared to now. We do tend to let the reins loosen up a bit over time so it's always a good idea to do a self-check once in a while. How exciting to have a trip to New Orleans as a goal to work toward. 30 pounds is not unreasonable with your no-nonsense approach. You can do it!

I know when your weight lose slows it gets frustrating but sometimes you just have to wait it out. Your eating and exercise are good and the scale will start to move again. When mine slowed I didn't do anything different and after a while with no lose it started dropping again.

I do that as well... sometimes u dont realize when you start allowing certain things or habits back into your diet. Not sure if the good fats would cause a halt, i would just check on the processed foods and starches... good luck!

6 pounds a month sounds reasonable - especially the way you go at it!

I did that little experitment too for a bit this summer with the healthy fats - I was just getting to much too I guess. But damn, avocado is tasty!

Hi! You sure have this stuff figured out. The thing about an avocado is....once you cut it and there is no one else but you what do you do with the other half??? So a serving of avocado is roughly 161 calories. I think the benefits you get from all the vitamins, antioxidants and good fats must be worth those calories. Or half that at 80 cals. And I just saw on Pinterest yesterday that you can cut an avocado in half and freeze it.

You might wanna check out eating Paleo, like marksdailyapple.com, or reading Primal Blueprint, fat isn't as bad as we think, but processed carbs, we could really do with less. Not to change everything completely, but it might be nice (errr it also might be quite annoying) to read more about different eating habits (not diets!)

Thanks Trumpeter 26, I have read about Paleo and think I am going that direction. I eat my carbs through fruits, veggies - and lean proteins. I do eat dairy however...I really do not eat processed foods.

You are doing great. Wonderful to see that your crossed into the 180's! Keep up your good work, but don't worry too much about exactly when you will hit goal. You will get there. I have no doubt. Whether it is in time for your trip or not, you will definitely be down quite a bit from where you are now...and the exercise will continue to build muscle. Good work!

I knew you would figure it out! Having a goal will definatley keep you motivated. Just think, you will have to buy some fun new outfits to go on your trip!
