HCB's Journal, 30 September 2012

Did you hear about the "Warrior Riders" who cycled cross-country from California to New York City? The twelve veterans rode to raise money for the education of the children of their fallen comrades!

They rode a total of 3200 miles in NINE days from September 22nd
through September 30th. That is cycling over 350 miles per day for NINE days in a row!

That seems almost super-human!

I had another good food day, and after seven days of exercise in a row, I took today as a rest day. My muscles are a little sore and worry I may weigh heavy tomorrow as a result - but, will wait and see.

I reviewed my RDI and even if I click on "sedentary", FS thinks I should eat 200 more calories per day! Ironic because I am trying to cut back about 50 calories a day to see if I can push the scale down a little this month...but I will remain aware since eating too little also will stall weight loss. I feel as though I am eating plenty!

Still grateful for:

- The good health of my loved ones
- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today
- My DH - who is my greatest "cheerleader"
- My Bengal cat companions named Bodhi and Ravi
- My work - which has meaning and worth to other human beings
- My connection to the Mother Earth and its entire splendor
- My physical health

Fascinating that the riders and the support crew pay for everything, and the donations go to the two foundations. Great job on the exercising, HCB! You are relentless!

Makes Lance Armstrong look damn near average. Glad you took a rest day! I had 4 rest days last week, it was crazy. Your food diary today looks pretty austere - you are really serious! (Well, you are ALWAYS really serious!).

I hope they were able to raise a lot of money. Enjoy your rest day you deserve it!

That's an incredible amount of riding for one day, let alone doing it nine days in a row! Wow. Rest days are good. I hope the scale doesn't play tricks from the muscle soreness. Remember that the "R" in RDI stands for "recommended" so it's not a number that is written in stone. It's impossible to pinpoint a precise number of calories that applies to the entire population, even if they try to incorporate weight and activity levels. Every body is different. I wouldn't worry about it as long as you are losing weight at safe and steady pace. If the weight loss slows, revisit the numbers then.
