GlennM's Journal, 01 June 2010

Doing well, I went to my friend Bruce's yesterday. I was tired as I hadn't slept the night before. We had a BBQ, no one else there. I know his sister. She visits my building, he knew I knew her all along, my younger sister and she have the same first name. His girlfriend was working, so I haven't met her yet. I have given up artificial sweeteners, what a hassle... I had rum and coke yesterday, beer was not allowed for sale yesterday because they didn't want drinking and driving on the holiday weekend. I'm up early so will try to write today and fix up the short story I'm doing now. I think I will stay in this area until I am published and then move to a warmer climate...
Vocabulary word of the day: turgid: -adjective- 1. swollen or distended or congested. 2. (of language or style) tediously pompous or bombastic. ----- Origin from 17th Century from Latin. --- don't know whether to use 'she' or 'her' in above sentence. I am not college educated so my writing may show it. The high school I went to was fairly lacking in education too, I graduated after skipping 1/3 plus of 11th grade. I CAN write but often if a sentence is confusing will rearrange it so I know it isn't grammatically wrong...

I will write tonight. I slept all day! I am still on night shift schedule too much of the time. I will send out my first two historical fiction books to try to publish them this summer soon. I may be forced to stay here for financial reasons. I am behind 90% plus of my peers and can't just go because I have nothing to go to except minimum wage jobs that are impossible to find too since I don't have any education. I am not going to go to bed early anymore, I still sleep all day anyway on my days off from work regardless...

You probably need to set yourself a routine. Up at a certain hour and stay up. Writing from xx-hour until xx-hour. Certain chores at certain times or certain days. I have to coordinate my chores around my job. On the weekend, I still get up at a certain hour and this way I can get things done. I think everyone needs a routine. We are like children of sorts, need to know what will happen and when. Keeps us secure. Have a good one my friend. Take care.

I need to set up a routine, yet my psych meds are so mentally and physically draining that I end up sleeping a lot more than I intend. Tonight I am staying up and writing. I get the most writing done at night anyway no matter what xx-hour I might plan to set up things and do them. At least I got laundry done on my visit over to Bruce's place yesterday...

If it's "my younger sister and her have the same name" you are referring to, I believe that you have a compound subject there, and that being the case, we need to use the subjective case of the pronoun "she" instead of the objective case "her" (i.e. my younger sister has..., she has..., thus "my younger sister and she have the same first name" would be grammatically correct) It sounds a bit strange to me too and I may be wrong but I don't think so. :-)

Thanks info, that is what I originally put but it sounded wrong, and no one speaks that way, for example everyone says you and I and it is you and me oftentimes (it is whatever that sentence is without the you and...)- if you have a picture it isn't I it is me, so a picture with two people is ----------- and me. Sometimes it is I but oftentimes it is me in this type of phrase depending on what a sentence says. I know that pain in the neck phrase and how it works anyway. Thanks for letting me know that for 'she'.
