HCB's Journal, 05 September 2012

So, last night at 2:00AM I woke up with...dat dah daahhh...a bad case of what I determined to be Hives!

I have not been through such an episode before - and still do not know the allergic trigger. It was bad - I felt like I was coming out of my skin and the itching was insane. I took cold showers, used some anti-iching cream, etc.

Finally, looked on the trusty Internet and realized it was Hives (matched the symptoms and pictures) and I needed antihistamines fast.

Fortunately, we had one Zyrtec. Then my DH went out to the 24 hour Walgreen's and got more for me. Within about 90 minutes, I was able to go back to sleep and woke up...dat dah daahhh...normal.

SO weird...

Grateful:

- The Itching has stopped

- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today
- My DH - who is my greatest "cheerleader"
- My Bengal cat companions named Bodhi and Ravi
- My work - which has meaning and worth to other human beings
- My connection to the Mother Earth and its entire splendor
- My physical health

New laundry detergent?? Glad to hear that it cleared up so fast. Hives can be so much worse than it seems they should be. Hope they stay gone!

Thank goodness for 24-hour Walgreen's! *chanting and waving medicine man healing stick over your post* to keep the hives away.

I wonder if it was a delayed reaction to your recent "stress" (vacation with friends)...that happened to me a couple of times...and yes, MISERABLE...bless your heart. I hope it's gone for good!

Hives! So weird! Glad your feeling better! I love that expression "- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today" I got up early and exercised this morning. I thought of you since you were the one who inspired me. Well, DK did too, but he gets up FAR too early! :-)

Wow HCB Hives is no good! I'm glad your husband was there to do that late night run to Walgreens! What an odd thing. I'm glad you're feeling better!

Good to know that the Zyrtec works on hives. Now if you can just figure out exactly why you got them.

I know - it was strange. No changes in laundry soap, foods, bath soap, perfume, etc. I took my cat to the vet the same day but it was 10 hours before the hives appeared, and all the information I read said the time between the trigger and the reaction is usually within an hour or so. Just weird.

Oh my goodness! Glad to know you are all better now. Benedryl works on those symptoms also. My sister in law is allergic to sulfate and she has similar hives attacks. Did you have some different foods while you were traveling? Who knows what could have brought the hives on with all of the chemicals we encounter in products thee days. Take care Dear!

Oh sweetie. I feel for you! My son had unexplained hives for about a day and we still don't know what caused it. Helpfully, you keep a very close eye on food logging, so if you have another flare-up, you'll be able to pinpoint the cause quicker than most. But hopefully you never see it again!!!

Perhaps you were bitten by something, that can bring out hives in alot of people. Glad they have gone aways.. HIVES are nasty..
