HCB's Journal, 03 September 2012

I feel like I am having a big crash today after my vacation trip. I am glad to be home and back in my routine, but really really really do not want to go back to work on Wednesday!

I am self-employed and plenty busy - so grateful to have income - but would like another week off to play around!

And, today I had a couple food cravings since I indulged on my "free" day. Thankfully, there are no unhealthy foods in the house and my husband reminds me of how hard I have worked - so, it is not like I would listen to any of the cravings but they are there and are annoying.

Today, I remain thankful for:

- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today
- My DH - who is my greatest "cheerleader"
- My Bengal cat companions named Bodhi and Ravi
- My work - which has meaning and worth to other human beings
- My connection to the Mother Earth and its entire splendor
- My physical health

Sounds like you have a great supportive hubby:) and he is right you have worked very hard. You have so much to be prod of your self for. Hope your day and week goes good.

Having a controlled food environment at home is so helpful during our weak moments. And a suppotive hubby just makes it that much better :)

Yes, my DH is a great help to me, and was fabulous on our trip. He would encourage me to order the "right" stuff and ignore what my friends were eating. For example, my friend's spouse would sit down and eat half of a Family Size bag of Lay's Potato Chips while drinking Coca-Cola as he watched TV at night. Or a salad at a restaurant with full fat Blue Cheese dressing - like, why bother eating the salad when you add a zillion calories and fat with the dressing?

Love that you had such a great vacation and that your hubby is on board with the motivation... Enjoy your day tomorrow before you have to go back to work!

I think a down day is to be expected. Back to reality, ugh! But you will get right back at it and into that routine in no time at all. Just remind yourself how great you did and enjoy it!

Welcome back! I have found it hard to get back on track after splurge days, but now after a few days I am feeling so much better!!

I know what you mean about acclimating and dealing with that jet lag feeling. You are so disciplined not to permit one splurge day to become a week or a month. That transition day after vacation and before returning to the workplace - even if that workplace is one's home office - seems effective. Good luck!

I have been off work since last Wednesday (well I worked a couple half days in there), but I am not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow either. I am glad I took today off, but I want more:)

It's good to have you back here regularly! I'm going to try to be as successful on my week in DC as you were on your trip; maybe I should buy a workout DVD, lol. There is a great fitness center where we'll be staying & I've already scooped out healthy eateries; several with interactive nutritional info, so I can figure out ahead exactly what to ordering. I hope you're settling in well to working and the comfort of being home with your DH and Bodhi & Ravi.

Bodhi and Ravi are SUPER cats - they were well-taken care of by our Pro Cat Sitter - but THEY really missed us. Both followed us from room to room and look worried when we popped out for groceries on Sunday. Bengals are very affectionate and smart...so they knew we were going to market but still were worried!

It is hard settling down after vacation, but am sure you can for all the right reasons. Look how far you have come - no sense in slipping backwards.

your a very lucky lady to have a supportive spouse. Work will be tough for the first day or two, but then the weekend will be nipping at your heals once again. Good job on fighting your cravings that takes strength and determination.

Impressive! Good plan to not have bad 'stuffs' in the house. I hate when cravings kick in, but once I defeat them, I kinda like them cause it shows me how strong I was to deny them. :-)

You're doing great HCB! I know it is super hard to come off vacation and feel you have to be "perfect" again. Great job having no unhealthy food in your house. You'll be fine, it's just a routine after a while - it's super hard to get into a healthy routine, but when you're grinding through it, it's like you automatically know what to do, what you should be eating, what you should be doing for exercise. You do it enough and you just KNOW. You're there, just have to hitch up your boots and jump back in.
