I'm done eating for the day. I woke up at 7:00AM and ate 1270 calories. I'm making 9:00PM my cut-off point so that I'll be hungry when I wake up the next morning. Is that a healthy strategy, even if I go to sleep a little hungry?

I don't know if I necessarily ate my healthiest today, either. I had a Reuben sandwich for lunch (corned beef for St. Patty's Day... which really wasn't today, btw) and grilled chicken for dinner with mashed potatoes, and two sides of veggies.

One thing I've been told is that you shouldn't even count the calories for veggies and fruit. I've heard that you should get 4-5 servings of these each day no matter what. Does that mean I should cut other foods and replace the calories with 4-5 servings of veggies/fruits of the same caloric amount?

For example, instead of a Reuben with 500 calories, I should just eat 500 calories worth of veggies. I guess that's the point. If I eat a low of veggies, that doesn't leave a lot of room (calorie-wise) for junk. Duh.

So anyway, I'm cutting myself off at 1270 calories for the day. Should I aim for more or less in the future?

Best wishes,

Cliff
