Today was my weigh in & I'm totally discouraged. I used to eat anything I wanted. Pizza, 1/2 lb pasta, cheesesteak sandwiches, potato chips, cheese & crackers, cookies etc & have cocktails with my friends three times a week.
I never exercised (hate doing it). I rarely ate vegetables & to me salad is rabbit food.

July 1st I started dieting & I work out on the Nordic Flex for twenty minutes every other day. I've completely changed the way I eat & yet in seven weeks I only lost 11.6 lbs.

Today is supposed to be my cheat day & we are going to a steakhouse to celebrate my sister's birthday & next weekend my friends are having a birthday party for me which means alcohol & cake. That means I probably won't lose anything for the next two weeks.

Doesn't really seem worth it. Eat anything I want & stay at 300 or eat food I don't even like & be able to have drinks with my friends & not have to get on that God awful machine just to weigh 288.4.

first off happy early birthday I hope you have a great one. Don't give up its a long journey and its worth taking. try changing up your workouts maybe add a walk in or a bike ride or even get some of them work at home dvds. maybe some of the food that your eating (the good healthy food) is making you stall. or maybe there is something medically wrong that makes it harder to lose the weight. but don't give up keep at it and you will see a difference soon. Good Luck

You may not be losing as fast as you want to, but you are losing at safe and sustainable rate. People who lose fast tend to put it back on just as fast. By losing it more slowly, you can learn what to do to be able to keep it off. It's important to keep weight loss expectations realistic. A pound or two a week is what most people lose on average. Losing weight isn't just about looking good, it's also about being healthy and feeling good. As you age, extra pounds creep on and you become at risk for heart disease, more cancers and a host of other problems. So it worth it to lose, look good, feel good and be healthy. I think so. Be proud of your loss and keep going. Your doing great.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm an insulin dependent diabetic & insulin helps keep you fat. I also have charcot foot which is a result of diabetes & means the bones in my ankle are bending & I can't stand up for very long so walking for exercise is not an option nor do floor exercises because I wouldn't be able to get back up thus the machine. I do realize that this is not going to happen overnight. In the past when I've tried to lose weight I initially lost at least five ponds (water) the first week. I'm now turning fifty nine, so I guess those days are over although I've cut my calorie intake drastically. I'm not ready to quit yet, just feeling sorry for myself.
