Thursday, overcast . . . still no rain!

We haven't had a drop of rain in all these overcast days. All I can say is, it's blessedly cooler. What a strange couple of years we've had, weather wise. The drought here is VERY deep. We need rain so very badly.

I haven't felt very well the last few days. I feel very slow and sloggy. I'm not sure what that's all about. My ankle is healing. My knees are not as sore. My memory seems to be improving. I just don't have any energy.

I'm plugging away at the house. It's slow, but I'm getting things done. I would love to have someone (an organizer?) come in and help me with it. I know I'm not a hoarder. I don't bring new things in and I have no trouble letting things go. In fact, I welcome it! I have no trash in the house, no dirty dishes. The clothes are always done and put away. That being said, the house is filthy and cluttered and I'm physically having trouble getting to things to clear away and put away, especially the things in lower cabinets and at floor level.

Velcro, as usual, is laying on my left arm and hitting keys on the keyboard. Since my arm is going numb, I'm going to go get a hot shower and go to bed early. Hugs everyone!

I'm grateful for:

Waking up!
Velcro, even if he is a nuisance.
The cooler weather.
The beautiful crop of basil I cut yesterday and put up in EVOO in the freezer to make pesto.
Hot running water. (I lived without for many years of my life, even as an adult.)
My lovely "Sleep Number Bed."

My partner & I were just talking about the drought & hoping it lets up soon. Here in northwest Oregon that's seldom an issue, but we know how bad it can be. I'm not so good at reducing clutter messes, unless you count shoving stuff in bags & hiding them in th back of a closet or in the garage. I hope you're feeling better soon. You're so good at seeing and appreciating the positives in your life. mmm, love that Basil pesto; I think I'll do that with my Basil.

Dearest Johanne, What an inspiration you are! There are always things to be thankful for, even when things don't look so bright. I know what you mean about getting to stuff in low cabinets, almost impossible, for me those in back. I have one of those long grabbers and by sitting down on a chair, I can get to items that are otherwise hard to retrieve. I hope that you can implore a good friend or your daughter to help you with the house. It can get overwhelming. I love to get rid of anything I can't use, feels so good. Sending special hugs your way XXXXXXXXXX

When it gets overcast and doesn't rain here I also feel very sluggish and it feels like the air is heavy, if that makes sense. I love the name Velcro - is he a cat?

Kat, you sound like me. Now, what I need to do is have someone come along and mistake those bags for trash and take them to the curb. LOL! I love basil pesto too. My tomatoes didn't do well this year, but I had a bumper crop of basil (and my other herbs, as well). I put the basil in the food processor with a little olive oil and pulsed it. I got about 10 cups of processed basil, poured a little more olive oil on the top of each container to keep it from oxidizing and put it up in the freezer. I can't wait to make pesto this winter!

Gigi, I never thought about a grabber. How do you see into the back of those cabinets, though, to grab? I just found out there is an agency who will send someone out to help with the house. I'm going to call them today to see if I qualify. They will help with the heavy lifting and getting to things you can't reach. Thanks for the hugs! I'm sending them back 10-fold, my dear friend!

Tracy, that may be it. It's sunny today and I do feel a bit more energetic. Yes, Velcro is a cat. He was one of the most elegant kittens I ever saw, so I named him Darcy, after Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. After I had him for a week, I realized he was Velcro. If he doesn't want to be put down, it's almost impossible to do so. He doesn't use his claws, but he can contort his body in impossible positions and HANG ON! He is now 20 lbs, so he's a handful. I adore him. I love all of my wonderful pets, but Velcro is one of the most special animals I've ever owned . . . and one of the most beautiful. That's saying something, because I've owned some really gorgeous animals over the years.

I have a hard time to get motivated to clean the house as well and now there are some things I just can't do, like cleaning out the lower cupboards and anything that involves climbing a ladder or to much bending. I'm trying to keep picking at it and keeping reasonable clean but would so much rather be outside doing stuff in the yard.

Just stopping by to check on you! I sure wish I didn't live 3 hours away, I would help you in a heartbeat, then you could help me! lol I really need to clean out my garage...oh, well, the cooler weather is great for doing that. Hope you are feeling better and that the sluggishness has passed. Much love, my sweet Odessa friend! HUGS!!!!
