My calories this week were averaging under 1000 even though I did enjoy a party. When I measure, I even record a little extra. I am eating pretty clean. Mostly veggies and a bit of fruit and oil. I do eat eggs for protein and fish maybe a couple times a week. Going to add IF.

We all intermittently fast as we don’t eat continuously. If, in the end, you take in the same number of calories over the day, you will end up in the same place. Why refrain from eating over long periods? Metabolically, your body will tolerate it but only long-term calorie reduction will result in weight loss.

I am so confused! Supposedly doing 5/2 fixes metabolism.

What do you think is broken? If creatures could not do well over a wide variety of circumstances, they would die quickly. Don’t get buffeted by unfounded claims, snake oil salesmen and hype.

I am doing calorie reduction for sure. Averaging under 1200 calories a day. If I add the 5:2, even if I eat 600 that is 1200 less calories a week. Supposedly doing this helps your body burn fat. There are so many diets these days! Finding what works for me is not easy. But determined to take off 15 pounds and keep it off.

I looked Michael Mosley up. He started in finance then went to medical school to become a psychiatrist. He quickly gave that up to become a journalist and TV presenter. His credentials in nutrition and metabolism are nonexistent. If you like severe calorie restriction 2 days/week, carry on but don’t think that there are special fat burning properties to the practice.
