Gigi39's Journal, 11 August 2012

Good morning,
Enjoying some Chai Tea right now. Last night I took a Percocet and actually was able to go to sleep. I stopped taking them several days ago, but nights were really bad, and so I am glad for the rest finally.
I am thankful for:
Sleeping last night
For seeing a friend here again whom I have been worried about.
For God lifting me out of the depression I went through because of the shoulder surgery that has to be done in September.
Have a good day my friends.

Good Morning Gigi, glad you had a good sleep, it is tough when you don't sleep, to much time to think....glad you are out of your depression, lots of prayers coming your way for your surgery in Sept, never good to be thinking about it, it will be come and gone before you know it and a distant memory. Have a wonderful day and a good sleep tonight...

Thanks Yvonne, the depression started when I found out about the shoulder as I am only 7 weeks out of my knee replacement. Ouch, ouch, ouch. Thank you for the prayers.

Awww, I can understand you feel challenged by the upcoming surgery after just having your knee done. The alternative is all that pain though, so maybe we could be grateful that medicine can "fix" the problem and ultimately reduce your pain. Hang in there!

Hi Gigi girl, I have just gone through knee replacement surgery too. I can imagine you did get depressed to find out you have surgery again in 7 weeks. One of my buddies told me you and I had the same op. I am so glad you are feeling better. My surgery was 9 days ago. I hope your knee is recovering well and I don't know about you but it is the lack of privacy in hospital. I hope when you have had your shoulder surgery you will recover quickly so you can reap the benefits. All the best Sazy xx

Thinking of you new buddy. Sometimes we just have to have a good night's sleep so pain pills save the day. I just hate what they do to my digestion the next day. Hope you had a good day. :)

@HCB and Neptune, thanks for the kind thoughts.@ sazy, I wish you a speedy recovery. This surgery is not for wimps that's for sure. It will take a while and we know that. Besides the regular rehab exercises I now spend from 15 to 20 minutes on my recumbent bike. Have gone off the pain meds (narcotics), except possibly one at night so I can sleep. At night the pain is worse for me, it's weird. Tylenol is what I take during the day. Went to Walmart today, not bad, pushing the basket helps. LOL Get well quickly XX

Hi Gigi girl, I expected pain but i didnt expect all the bowel trouble i have been having which caused a lot of sickness and feverish condition but sorting it out now. I start physio on the 27th August because they noticed my leg didnt straighten properly as it was before the op, but with a lot of hard work i am sure it will be okay. I now notice how much i depended on my other leg before the op as i definately notice i stil lean and put my weight on the (once) good leg, though the mri on good leg revealed cartiladge problems and wear and tear on both sides of the knee. any we will get through it but i am sorry you have to face the hospital again so soon, but then i suppose the sooner you get it over with the sooner you will mend and get it behind you. MY best regards to you Sazy xx

Gigi, sleeping with pain is a B*@#&%! I will be praying for your surgery in September. It's always frightening. Love you. Be well.

Monday night here. Thanks for all the replies. Saw the pre-op surgeon who thinks the other operation is too soon. I agree. I am waiting for the shoulder surgeon to call and talk about it with me. The pre-op doc tells me that the arm will be COMLETELY immobilized for 6 weeks, then at least 2 months of rehab. I am still in knee rehab. He doesn't see it as a good thing. Plus, the operation is a "maybe" in that it may not even work due to all the damage. Sazy, I wish you well. XXXX
