Brooke2713's Journal, 05 May 2010

I don't want to involve myself in the forum debates, just really need to vent a little bit!! Recently I have seen many more people on FS who have extremely unhealthy Diet Plans! A few days ago I read a journal about somebody attempting to purge after they had a binge session & now all of this debate on HCG!!!! I'm not a saint when it comes to being healthy...But, I'm not CRAZY!!! I just need to tell myself that I shouldn't waste my time trying to convince those people not to starve themselves & just worry about ME & what I'm putting into my body!! I have a suggestion....all of you on FS with an ED should go & find a nice Pro-Ana/Mia website & save all of us who want to be healthy the trouble of dealing with you!!! (Not to be rude or anything)

Omg, Brooke, I saw that too! I'm not that person's buddy, but man it made me sad to read that :( It's so unnecessary. Starving yourself doesn't even make you look good, so if that's the aim, they're aiming wrong! I have a buddy who isn't around here much any more, but I am so worried about her. She is quite overweight but diets by eating less than 1000 calories a day, loses some weight, then disappears for a few months and gains it back plus some. This cycle has been going on for over a year. It just makes me so sad because I've been there too and it doesn't have to be that way :( Good job not being crazy!

I understand that most people at some point try crazy diet schemes, especially when they're young. I know I've tried some pretty crazy diets, for example a diet consisting of only cheese & Pepsi...age 14!!! It upsets me very much too because I know what these people are thinking & how desperate they must be...But, FatSecret is not the place for such behavior, it's for people who are striving for a healthy life, not for people who just want quick results!! Yes, we all mess up...but that's what makes us human!! I feel bad for your friend, it sounds like yo-yo dieting has taken an effect on her metabolism!! Do you have a way to contact her??? Here's to not being crazy & not starving!!!

Oh, I read your post on the HCG forum..."disordered eating leads to eating disorders" I think that's my new motto!!

I've tried them too and that's how I got to almost 300 pounds. I hate to see others falling into the same traps. I know it's inevitable, but I still can't help trying to talk them out of it. Oh what I wouldn't give to have known what I know now when I was 20. I could have saved myself so much pain and heartache! I try writing to my buddy, but I only know her on here. She was one of my first friends here in the beginning and it is sad to see she's actually gained weight despite some severely restrictive dieting :( She seems to be MIA right now, but I'll write to her when she comes back.

I agree that there are lots of people on FS with highly disordered and un healthy eating, but, there are some (hi, this is me!) who are trying to get to where we don't have disordered relationships with food. It's a give and take. :) I don't want to make some sort of heated debate, I just wanted to put it out there that there are some of us who are here to get where you lovely ladies both are. I want to be strong, and fit and healthy, but sometimes... food and I... well stuff can get complicated, as I am sure most people here can attest too.
