HCB's Journal, 07 August 2012

I had to "butt-kick" myself out of bed. I ate 1/3 cup of yellow rice last night and it increased my net carbs over my usual limit. Man, I felt tired. Amazing how little of the starchy stuff it takes to impact me. And, I had to "butt-kick" myself to exercise before work, too. I almost had myself talked into a "rest" day...but went and did my 30 minute Cardio Kick Box DVD as usual. Whewwww...that was a close call!

(Of course, anyone who does Jillian Michaels DVDs gets the "butt-kicks" reference...LOL)

And the daily gratitude list for my current challenge:

-My resolve to "butt-kick" myself to a smaller size
-The love and support of my Dear Husband
-My work - which has meaning and worth to other human beings
-My wonderful companion animals, Bengal Cats, who are my children
-My connection to the Mother Earth and all its splendor
-My physical health

So that's why I felt so sluggish last night. Unlike you, though, I'm sitting here this morning on FS instead of being out for a walk. It's still not too late to exercise. Taking your positive lead, I'll get going as soon as I get dressed. Once again, HCB inspires and keeps us going!

Way to go...its hard to make yourself exercise when your body just wants to be lazy but it usually gets your energy going.

Wish I had your resolve. You are really going places!

Your resolve shows on your chart. You're doing great! I love your gratitude list. I'm very lucky, since I have to limit my protein, that carbs don't effect me the way they do so many others. Isn't it weird how we're all so different and so much alike? Big hugs lady!

As I said, you're a great example! That's what I call "digging deep!"- Even when you really don't feel like doing it, or want to stop, you do it anyway because that's the mission and you want to achieve your goal. *High-five*!!

Those starchy foods are like a little lullabye just a singing us to sleep - aren't they - especially when we have not had them in a long while. Love the butt kick reference! Here's a sweaty hug from me for you kiddo because you did the right thing making yourself exercise. There has never ever been a time after exercise that I stapped to say, "Gee. I wish I hadn't done that." The butt kicks you give yourself to get motivated are far better than the playful but punitive butt kicks you would have to administer for skipping a workout. Right? Right!

Way to go! You're becoming the little angel on my shoulder saying "HCB worked out today... will you?" (-:

When I think of butt-kicks now I think of you HCB. :) Good job on butt-kicking yourself today and I bet you feel much better that you did. Now I think I need to go tackle some more stairs in the building to get my butt off this chair for a break. Thanks for the kick ;)

Hey, how should I record stair climbing??? Suggestions anyone?
07 Aug 12 by member: kimjinxie
WOOO HOOOO! I think I should give you my number so you can "kick(my)-butt" out of bed too. The most I can get my body to do when I'm up early before work is shower, brush teeth/hair, get dressed, take out the dog and go to work. Most times I'm either too lazy or completely cut myself short hitting the snooze button. Hahaha

"like", "like", "like"!!! FS really needs a "like" button! I also "like" everyone's responses! :)

kimjinxie, I could never find a way to record stair-climbing, either. You'd think it would be out there somewhere, right? If you do find it, you should be able to add it under "other".

It can be very difficult to manage the starches. Not enough and I feel funny, light headed, weird. Too much and I feel sluggish and bloated. Plus I can't really have too much because of diabetes and all that. I had Dreamfield's for dinner last night and it was a delicious. I had a big bowl of it and my blood sugar only went up to 122. You definitely gotta get you some! It must be a real challenge to cook for yourself and your husband if he isn't dieting. Some people have to cook two separate meals. Double the work!

OH - I do NOT cook for Steve. He gets home and eats around 5:00pm. I get home and eat dinner around 7:00pm. It works well becuase he can eat all his weird high fat and high calorie stuff and I don't have to even see it!
