Okay so I am having trouble.. I am lowering my calorie intact but everything I eat that is good for you is so high is sodium and I retain alot of water. My legs swell and some days its a plus 3 pitting edema. Being a murse I am on my feet alot. I know I need to see my doctor about my swelling but until then I am try to get my sodium intact down and not having much luck. What is low calories and low sodium..ugh..

Don't worry so much! You are doing very well overall - you know sodium limits are 2500-2600 per day so you are in the range today; unless you have a special issue with salt. Drinking 100-128ounces of water dailyy also will flush out the salt and possibly the fluid you are retaining.

There are also a whole host natural diuretics that can be found in fresh fruit and veggies. An easy one for me to incorporate is squeezing fresh lemon juice in my drinks and on my food. Sometimes a simple substitution can be helpful with the sodium as well; e.g. Egg Beaters 100% egg whites has half the sodium.

I have have been eating egg beaters last few days. I am going to start including grapefruit which is also a natural diuretic. See I was following a heart doctor for short time but never followed through with it because my insurance copays I could not afford so the doctors would not see me because i owe them money but now I have new insurance so i am going to follow up and see a doctor.
