Finally, after 7 weeks on Atkins have figured out how to lose weight. For ME, it is a matter of following the program exactly. As a diabetic on insulin, I have to weigh and measure everything so it is not a big extra inconvienience to use the data to balance my macro nutrient intake (carbs, protein, and fat).
This is MY formula for MY success]:
- Limit total calories to ~80% RDI - Keep net carbs under 20 per day - Take in only enough protein to provide for my body's daily needs (For me this is ~140g). - Fill in the remaining calories with fats (Mostly MUFAs). - Fuggeda 'bout snacking (OK, if I have to snack, I just make them very low carb, low protein, high fat snacks).
As I said, this works for me. YMMV, of course. Everyone must experiment to come up with their own formula. Even the super conservative dinosaurs at the ADA now recommend each person have a diet tailored specifically for them.
