Ack, ack, ack....can't catch my breath....it's excessively humid here! It was 91 degrees with an 80 degree dewpoint. Doggies and I nearly aborted the walking mission, but we went out for .8 miles because at least it was cloudy. When I saw 92 on the display when I returned, I decided not to add any more mileage for myself. Unless one HAS to, one should NOT be exercising outside in these conditions.

I'm watching the weather, as I need to get some meat grilled for tonight and beyond. I think this may be another day of having freshly grilled steak and veggies for breakfast, rather than chancing the weather for grilling late this afternoon.

Yesterday, I saw my first snake in our yard....nearly scared me to death. The good news is that it was "relatively" small and it just skittered a short distance away. As near as I can determine from photos online, it's a harmless, non-venomous one that's commonly found in residential yards. I tell myself that if I had gone out a while later, I'd probably never have seen it and would have still (naively) believed that there are no snakes around here! LOL!

Actually, I know better, as there's been a snake or two in the pool from time to time....very small ones.....as there was this morning! What is this...snake season??? I know about all the good that harmless snakes do, but they still freak me out. Maybe if I had grown up in the South, I'd be more accepting of them.

Sorry about the UGH weather & high dewpoint, makes it impossible to do anything outside... I'm same way with snakes, don't like any of them and would rather not be around any at all !!!

Hate that you were unable to get out for your usual walk. Cooler weather will be here soon enough. As for the snakes, it is best to treat them all as poisonous until proven otherwise. I think I told you DH had a bad reaction to a copperhead bite (spent 5 days in hospital) and ended up losing the use of his right pinky finger - could have been a lot worse!

Notfast, I bet you've seen your share when you spend half the year in Arizona! I still remember seeing my first "Warning...rattlesnakes can be in this area" sign at a rest stop in NM!

Sandy, we were sitting here the other night while a chicken was cooking on the rotisserie, and hubby went out to turn off the pool pump. He came to the door and told me I needed to come out, that the rotisserie was making a funny noise. I went to the door and heard what sounded like a rabbit or kitten in distress. I grabbed a flashlight and headed out the door. The sound was coming from my veggie garden and I was worried it was Stewie, my cat, so I headed in, and started searching. I parted the leaves of the zucchini and there was a bull frog, screaming because a ribbon snake had grabbed it by the back leg and was attempting to drag it away. Hubby said whack the snake with the light. I finally was able to tap it on the head after 3 tries and the cries from the frog stopped, so I think it probably let the little guy go. I was sooo upset...I had no idea frogs screamed like that! Snakes are an important part of the ecosystem, but if they can't do any better than that catching their dinner, then I am going to intervene! lol Have a great weekend, and try to stay cool. That heat and humidity is not fit for any one to exercise in!
