Tuesday, August 1st and hot, Hot, HOT!!!


What a summer this has been for Missouri . . . no rain, above normal temps and barely moving air. We've got a mini-dust bowl going. I can only stay out and enjoy my pretty plants in the very early morning. I lived most of my life without air conditioning, but I'm so thankful for it now.

My friend Ed took me out for our once-a-month lunch date. He's such a conservative and I'm so not. It's funny we have become very good friends. Somehow, we always find things to talk about and our discussions always stay civil. I'm not sure how his wife puts up with him though. I'd probably kill him if I had to talk to him every day! LOL. He's one year older than I and spent quite a long time in Vietnam, as many of my friends and family at that time did. It seems both, so very long ago and like yesterday. Old age does strange things to time.

I'm on late and considering going to bed early. I ate totally wrong today and it's having pretty bad effects. Gluten is a VERY bad thing, at least for me. Why I would choose battered fish instead of a steak is beyond me. I don't even LIKE fish. Today, though, I just didn't seem to be able to resist it. The batter is killing me. LOL!

I'm off to visit journals now. Thanks to everyone who has joined my challenge. I think it's just what I need. Hugs all around!

Hey Jo, thank you for visiting my journal and for the invite! It's just what I needed too. I'm sorry the batter is giving you fits. To me, the batter is the best part of fish and chips. And I love to drown mine in vinegar. Mmmm... But we must resist! lol

Yup. I saturated mine in malt vinegar . . . also a no-no. LOL. Malt is made from barley. Can't have it. I'm glad you like the challenge. We've got a lovely batch of people on board, so far. Have a great day and HUGS!
