Nidoqueen's Journal, 19 June 2018

Alright... 10 days playing with the same 1/2 lb is getting old. It's not like I'm near my goal, I still have over 50# to go. So... I've been researching what I might be doing wrong to stall my progress and I've come up with a list of culprits:

1. Not enough water - upped intake by 100% today. Also increased other liquids as well (like double coffee to get things "moving").

2. Not enough salt - liver needs salt to make ketones, and since my primary salt resource used to be potato chips... yeah.

3. Too much protein - looks like my protein macro is a little off lately. I don't eat many leafy greens (for other reasons) and so I struggle with this.

4. Too many snacks - even though I'm within my macros, I need to condense my intake to longer intervals, larger meals, and no snacking in-between.

5. Too much stress - dunno what I can do about this one, but stress releases cortisol, which block progress. Gonna have to figure this one out...

6. Maybe it's time to start Intermittent Fasting...my fasting blood glucose levels are actually quite good, but I might be derailing myself by not allowing my body to get "hungry".

7. Finally, I may need to up my exercise game (yeah, there's no maybe to this one). Up until recently, it took all my strength and breath just to haul my own a$$ around. Now that I've lost 33# of said a$$, I need to get the remainder more active.

I will begin immediately with the above modifications to my daily life and see if I can't break this plateau. It is so frustrating to be right on the threshold of ONEderland and be denied entry for almost 2 weeks.

I appreciate all the support and information I get here! Thanks, guys.

Thank you, really good research! I can use some of these!!! I read your profile and posts on forum and love the honesty, and inspiration. Especially the post about the 'right diet'. Totally agree! Remember to take stock of how you feel and not just the numbers, or they can drive you crazy.

Be patient and stick to your plan. When I stall it works to lower carbs even more and up your fats quite a bit. Intermittent fasting (16/8 or 18/6) has also really helped me drop weight. Also, sometimes when the scale wasn’t moving, I was losing more in inches than when the scale was moving?? Your body might just be adjusting. You got this!!

Nice work adjusting. For future reference, fasting, while definitely not for everyone, is, if you can hack it, the fastest and most effective way to break a plateau and reach ketosis.
