KayBuckaroo's Journal, 15 June 2018

Happy to be done with this grueling work week, PMS is fully in effect and I’m literally black and blue from shipbuilding.

I ate my favorite snack for dinner: oil popped popcorn! I was finally motivated to measure my family heirloom popcorn bowl: 14 cups! I’ve been estimating about 6 😂😂😂 Well, I’m gonna say 700 calories is definitely worth the joy I get out of it. It’s a treat, and I planned my calories for it. I even saved calories for later tonight. I guess it makes perfect sense, why I struggled to lose weight before after eating both dinner and then that much popcorn afterwards...

... another reason why I absolutely love this app. It’s enabling me to count calories, stay honest, and I’m always learning about portions.

What are some of your favorite foods to have for a meal?

Popcorn is actually one of the better snacks to have, to quote this article here: “Popcorn Nutrition Facts Many people don't realize it, but popcorn is a whole grain food, making it naturally high in several important nutrients. Many studies link whole grain consumption to health benefits like reduced inflammation and a decreased risk of heart disease (1, 2, 3, 4). This is the nutrient content of a 100-gram (3.5-oz) serving of air-popped popcorn (5): Vitamin B1 (Thiamin): 7% of the RDI. Vitamin B3 (Niacin): 12% of the RDI. Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine): 8% of the RDI. Iron: 18% of the RDI. Magnesium: 36% of the RDI. Phosphorus: 36% of the RDI. Potassium: 9% of the RDI. Zinc: 21% of the RDI. Copper: 13% of the RDI. Manganese: 56% of the RDI. This is coming with a total of 387 calories, 13 grams of protein, 78 grams of carbs and 5 grams of fat. This serving also contains a whopping 15 grams of fiber, which is extremely high. It makes it one of the world's best sources of fiber.” https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/popcorn-nutrition-and-health#section2

Fascinating and pleasing to read. It’s easily in my top 5 favorite foods.

Best choice is plain unsalted and try to avoid the prepackaged microwave stuff. Bad chemicals in that stuff, but at least as of this coming Monday, the 18th there will no longer be artificial trans fats in our food. YEA SCIENCE AND HEALTH WATCH GROUPS. It took 14 years but it finally happened.

My fav ‘junk’ for meals would be a snickers for a quick lunch when I’m out and don’t have time to stop. At home it would be white queso and white corn tortilla chips or Fritos and velvetta rotel dip. For normal food I love a good burger and steak, chicken fajitas, biscuits, fried eggs, Pizza (should be listed under junk lol), quesadillas, steamed broccoli, loaded baked potatoes.. I have many favorites! I never realized how much I LOVE food until I started my weight loss journey!

Popcorn is my cheat for my stomach. As a teenager I had that big bowl too. My stomach doesn’t allow for popcorn but I have it once every few months I savor it
