I've been keeping my calories low and really trying to keep my carbs within reason this week. some days it's easy others it just doesn't work out right. I get sick of eating eggs so have decided to eat Irish steel cut oatmeal once or twice a week. I know it's full of carbs but it's also loaded with fiber so at least it serves a purpose. I'll do the eggs the days I am not as active and the oatmeal on the days I plan to be very active. I haven't had to worry to much about snacking this past week. My stitching (knit and crochet) group starts our charity projects every year about this time. One of the ladies in our group is teaching us the Tunisian-crochet technique so my hands have been keeping busy doing practice pieces. can't eat and stitch at the samevtime. And frankly, when I'm stitching my mind forgets all about food. As Martha Stewart says, " It's a good thing!" crafts, charity, and losing weight, all good things.

I love oatmeal, I too have some on mornings I am craving it! Need my fiber!! I think it's great you crochet, I have always wanted to learn, sounds like fun and definitely a good way to keep busy and not think about food! Keep up the great work.

The crochet stitch I'm doing is the "Tunisian Simple Stitch" TSS). It's really very easy. We plan to teach it at a beginner's class in July at our local library for the summer adult's classes. This keeps me busy and out of trouble. Check out the videos online at YouTube for this stitch and you'll see how simple it is. You just need some yarn and a 10 or 14 inch long tunisian (afghan) hook. My first real project for it will a cover be for my Kindle Reader. No carbs or calories required and almost more fun than eating cookies, well I did say almost.

I believe that stitch is the one a coworker tried to teach me. I immediately botched it. She was kind and suggested we try again. My second attempt was just as bad. She said "maybe this isn't for you". I got a tiny green snake out of that deal that I kept for some time.

reubenlady Ha, ha! At least you got a little green snake. One of the ladies in my group (who knits, but did not know how to crochet) tried and ended up with what she called 'a curly wooly worm'. If you are new to yarn arts it takes several practice sessions to get proficient at any of the techniques. once you learn a few stitches it can be a relaxing hobby. Don't give up, try again. Saves me from stealing my husband's forbidden junk food snacks from his stash in the den. I make him keep that stuff in his man cave.

I think keeping busy is one of the keys and oatmeal is said to be much better for you than eggs! Sounds like you're doing great!

I turned to painting instead. It seems more up my alley.
