Unfortunately here in the next month I will be taking a break from my wonderful journey as I am having to get a second job. My hubby and I decided not to go through with the bankruptcy since he moved in his job and I moved up. All was well until more medical bills started arriving and piling up. Due to this we both are having to get second jobs to hopefully get this mess straightened out. And let's face it he's a bit of a money spender so this will be a challenge to actually get the second money's to the medical bills and not into his activities. Wish me luck and I'm hoping I won't be away for long. I will try to eat as healthy as I possibly can.

Emily, well done! You and your husband will be tired but stronger for plowing through this rough patch. Have you thought about Dave Ramsey's "Financial Peace University"? It would help you plan your attack in an orderly way and teach you how to support each other when your resolve weakens. Paying off your debts instead of declaring bankruptcy is the "higher, nobler road." Best wishes and prayers go with you.

Ugh. Medical bills. Even with good insurance those bastards will bankrupt you. My experience has been that 2nd jobs don't pay anywhere as well as primary, but suck twice the amount of life out of you, especially if you are stuck in retail. (If you lived near me, I could get you a gig at the library, but would be quite the commute from Mississippi.) Best of luck.

Thank you. I was looking at retail but just as a cashier and maybe help stock a little bit but nothing major as it will be an after 5 pm thing. Hoping to have it no more than 4-5 months. I said I was gonna get one after my birthday which is the 8th so I guess I better get started putting apps in. Lol

I second Dave Ramsey....he is a great resource as he has lived through it. There have been many times when I had to bite the bullet and cut back, get a second job, and save to cover medical bills. Interestingly, I learned more about finances struggling than I ever did before. Many of those lessons have stuck with me these past 30 years and the rewards have been significant. While it feels unpleasant in the moment, you may find that the experience will be life changing in a positive way. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Good luck. 🍀 Finances put tremendous strain on a marriage. It's good you're making decisions and working together. All the best Emily. 😊
