Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 30 September 2016

You know you're out of shape when the office walking group stops because they didn't hear you hyperventilating behind them anymore. Yes.. I am that out of shape. I can throw around 50 lbs bag of feed like no ones business but I'm 60 lbs heavier than I'm comfortable with and speed walking is just plain evil. I miss the gym at my old place. I could throw in some earbuds and bounce around on the elliptical for an hour like it was nothing. Now?? Now I have to try to make polite conversation while panting and attempting to keep up with a conversation I missed most of and all I feel like doing is cursing like a sailor. This is what my fitness routine has come to now that there are 3 kids instead of 2. At least I can still sling stone feed bags and kids like they are nothing. :)

Today's motivation is appreciating that I'm strong and I'm on a journey to melt off the fat so everyone can see I'm strong.. That and I think less fat might move faster and not pant as much while sailing through cube land while people watch... Today's lunchtime entertainment is Me!! You're welcome :)

I get you! I throw hay, milk the cow and goats, scoop poop and chase 6 teenagers. How can I be so busy and so out of shape? I do sit at a desk job 8 hours a day and think maybe its the combination of too little sleep and too many aches and pains.

Keep at it! In no time the walking group will be struggling to keep pace with you!

I love your posts! You always make me laugh! I too am strong. The inner-city teens I work with are astounded when I lift things that they can't or won't. Today, one said, "Miss, you're a beast!"

I too am in an office all day. A small trick I am doing is to send my printing upstairs and collect my print-outs separately. Some days I am up and down the stairs several times. Thanks for being a source of entertainment (the good kind) and solidarity!

LOL, loved your description, but it rang a bell..... I belongED to a walking group but caved in and left when my knees were so painful going downhill that I thought they would buckle, and then everyone got so far in front that I couldn't catch up and when I did, I was seeing stars and had my heart beating in my ears. I concluded it was going to kill me. My survival is courtesy of that decision :p No seriously, I used to love those walks, but I just felt so embarrassed I could have cried the last 5 walks I was on. So if you continue to go, I will be massively proud of you. <3

So many of us can relate...I love walking with friends but when I feel it is a race, I choose to put on my blinders and this old grey mare, walks at her place. Needless to say, I enjoy my walks alone. At least I am the only one hearing my heart pound in my ears!

You can do this, girl! Slowly, you'll walk faster and faster and the fat WILL melt away. You may be working as hard as you can right NOW but when you are moving and lifting the hay-try going back and forth more-making more than one trip?
