wallisrox's Journal, 21 August 2016

So, yesterday my diet took a major hit!
I went to work and forgot my meal, so I had to settle on the restaurant food, which all in all was not where the badness began. It was a slow day full of munching on bits here and there (all of which I meticulously logged)
After work my boyfriend and mother-in-law came to pick me up, after a long day of garage saleing and thrift shopping. Here's how it goes down:
"Are you guys hungry?" She asks.
Boyfriend pipes up, "starving!!"
"Wallis,how about you?"
"Ummm sure" (because you don't want to be THAT girl.
Lo and behold we go out for a frenzy of rich and fatty fiesta Mexican food. Feeling festive I order "yes! I will take the BBQ shredded pork tacos"
Who knows what the hell are in those things, but damn they were good!
During our trip to heaven, the MIL asks, "you wanna make that wine sauce and do our wine sundaes tonight?? We can have steaks and corn! It is my last hurrah before I start my diet"
(Mind you she has been waiting for me to make this sugar heavy wine reduction FOR FOREVER)
My eyes light up "YES"
I am just a YES machine at this point.
The lavish dinner is a 7oz Ribeye with fat, corn on the cob, and roasted asparagus. And for desert, wine sauce ice cream sundaes with fresh homemade whipped cream.
Amazing, delicious, devilish, all of the above!
So 2500 calories later I am sitting in the car on the way home self loathing beyond the point of disbelief.
Why why why?
Frantically reading through internet pages of "how do you get back up after a day of bad eating??" I think I meant that both mentally and physically.
So today I wake up and it's not much better, something sweet to start my morning.
House sitting for a friend I find "natures brownie"
Why YES, I will!
I made the mistake of stepping on the scale while there.
What??!!! 8 POUNDS heavier!!!! I know ribeye steaks take a while to digest, but this didn't help the heartbreak.
I will tell you folks, one day is all it took and now I'm on the mend for the rest of the week.
Tonight I will be making a vitamin rich vegetable stew, sans the salt, and I will be sipping on this all week.
I am getting back on this horse! I will undoubtedly fall off again, but I will always get back on.
Let's GO!

*if you made it this far, bless your lovely soul. Thank you!*

It's done and gone. Self-loathing doesn't help, or change anything. Get right back to it, and learn from the slip. As for me, I don't mind being "that girl". The extra food doesn't hurt the person offering it, it hurts my plan, and that's more important to me.

Being "THAT girl" is what is going to help you in the long run. The girl who loses the weight, the girl who has the will power, the motivation, the girl who sticks to her diet in the face of temptation. You don't HAVE to conform. It sounds like you had a fun night until you realized what you ate. The corn and asparagus sounded good...just sayin'...anyways, you can DO THIS I have faith in you!

Hi everyone! Thank you for listening to my wild stream of consciousness. I am usually always THAT girl, so it was nice to take a break from my diligence. Being THAT girl has won me a 25 pound drop in 4 months! Woot Woot! This girl will be getting back up after yesterday. I think the worst part of yesterday was the tacos and the sundaes, so being that girl would've saved this girls piece of mind!

that was yesterday....today and all the tomorrows can be met one day at a time...celery, broccoli, cabbage (coleslaw), tomatoes..all negative calories (takes more to digest than they carry) one day hot in a chicken stew...another day cold with homemade salad dressing......I like them also with an ounce of very old cheese......

It's okay. We all fall off the wagon every now and then. I agree with the advice not to beat yourself up. Just get back on and learn from this slip. Maybe say yes to one and not all if you're going to cheat ! You are doing fine !

Hey! Your transparency was delightful to read...not the gain (sorry about that) There are a lot of horses that need to be gotten back on and ridden hard in this life, sounds like you are ready for another round. Btw, sounds like you have a wonderful relationship with your MIL, you can diet together and enjoy special treat meals...just not too often!! :)
