Day 1 of the New Moon 5-day fast is in the bag. I got a little hungry around 4 PM, and was feeling crampy in my feet, so I added some MIO Electrolyte to a bottle of water, and chugged it. It helped a lot!
I made some bone broth from cow feet bones (Don't be going all, "EWWW" on me here!). It is rich in collagen, elastin, trace minerals, and amino acids. A small cup of that stuff is sustaining and satisfying. And if there's any left after this fast, will make an incredible aspic. After I chilled it and skimmed the fat, it is the most solid jelly I've ever seen!
I had a new client at work today who has such severe tremors in her head that she's had a procedure where they implanted electrodes in her brain which are attached to a battery under her collarbone by thick (1/8") cables that run down the side of her neck, under the skin. Even with that, her head tilts uncontrollably to the right, and shakes pretty severely. It was pretty challenging to do highlights on her, but once I got a sense of the rhythm of her tremors, I was actually able to work with them, and use them to my advantage.
The best part, though, was being able to share with her the new research that's being done in the area of therapeutic nutritional ketosis for neurological disorders. I wrote it down, and told her to ask her neuro doc about it. If he hasn't heard of it, I'm hoping it spurs him to research it. But I told her that if he was resistant to it, I would share the details with her, and hopefully help. She was very open to it.
It's been a very good day, in spite of heat index of 114F.

Glad you are feeling good. I do love bone broth. I think I could live on it for a week or more. Will make chicken broth Tuesday night to break my fast Wednesday morning. I had a great day at work. I was positive and facilitated good team building.

Lady, I find helping others to be more rewarding than helping myself. Great New Moon Energy you've got going!

Oh, wow. I didn't even put 2+2 together. We both helped people today 😊

I support you in your new moon fast! I too counseled today about the therapeutic possibilities of LCHF for my friend's diabetic husband. I'm hoping they will take it up.

@Erika, all you can do is offer the information. If they run with it, you can be there to help and support. If they don't, it's not because you failed. "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear."

Thanks, @Ches. Luck has nothing to do with it. It's mindset and commitment. You just have to decide what's most important in life. Today, it's achieving autophaagy and the production of HGH. In this, I tend to take the hard line that Knuckles takes. You didn't "luck" into the fat you're carrying, and you can't "luck" out of it.

Just a saying. I agree completely. It IS a mindset. You got this

Is this the first five day fast you've done? I know you've got this!

@Sue, yes it is. So far, the longest has been 41 hours, and that was because of the stress of losing one of my fur-babies. I guess I'm lucky that I'm not a stress eater. I react the opposite, and can't eat when I'm stressed.

For the bone broth jelly - I saw a youtube video about 18th century food and they showed bone broth and then used to basically dehydrate it to make portable soup base :)
