Billyev's Journal, 27 July 2016

Thanks to everyone for your encouraging words. I didn't weight today, but what I did do was make an appointment with a nutritionist next week. I'm trying to eat better, and as soon as I figure out this site I will journal my food. I had an email that I had a buddy request, but I can't figure out how to accept it -- I don't see it on the site but I'm probably just not used to this particular site.

I know I have hit bottom. When I started considering surgery, dangerous surgery, I knew it was time to do some serious rethinking. I'm amazed that my insurance covers the nutritionist for weight management with no co-pay. My husband was just diagnosed with diabetes and put on medication (he is barely over the line). So I was calling to schedule for him since she is a diabetic diet specialist. In speaking with her, she offers just what I need as well. I need do to each day, each step, each moment one at a time, and make better choices. Get some exercise (not my strong suit by any means!) and learn how this site works better. Again, I appreciate all the support. When I read the comments today it make me feel a lot better!

As you get to know the site, you'll find lots of handy tools and ways to give and get support. To accept a buddy request go to the list on the right side column and look for the Buddies section. Your requests should be listed with accept or reject buttons. Once you've accepted, you can send messages.

Sometimes we just have to get to the point that we will be as dedicated to losing weight as we are to other things. For me logging exactly what I ate was a huge help. The thought of having to log that food choice that wasn't good was a deterrent. Also admitting that this wasn't a diet but a new way of eating for me. When I started I read through a bunch of diets and decided which I thought I could do long term. Everyone has to find what they are going to be able to stick to, people are different. I decided on Low Carb since I thought I could stick to it and my husband is a diabetic. Good luck and always ask for help or support here. Most people are great and very helpful.

One good choice is a step in the right direction - every choice is a new start!

Exercise will definitely help with glucose control. In order to reverse T2D you need to lose body fat. I don't believe it can be "cured" but only sent into remission. That should provide the incentive to lose and maintain the loss. Good luck!

Good for you! There are more features when you log in with a computer than when you use the phone application.
