Hermiones Mom's Journal, 28 June 2016

So the problem with writing these projects until 1:30 am is that you get hungry. It's not just the munchies -- when you're already eating fewer calories than you're burning, you really do get hungry. I did pretty well, though -- I spread my total calories across nearly 20 hours today and managed to stay below 1500 and didn't eat anything crazy. This is the advantage of having IBS -- there's less crazy stuff in the house, and I am less inclined to eat anything that could make me sick... Thank goodness. Sometimes IBS is a blessing. In the old days, I would have eaten my way through a pint of Ben & Jerry's... my poison of choice when writing on deadline.

I'm glad you have a strategy that works! I'm still gradually clearing out my pantry of all the poison foods. Fortunately, since I have come to see them as such, they no longer tempt me at all.

Mskestrela -- I've been doing this since June 2014, so the pantry is pretty much clear of bad stuff, and what's left doesn't tempt me because is makes me sick! Let's hope I can stick with this....

when I stayed up late in college I would drink herbal teas to keep hunger at bay

Ben And Jerry's Cherry cheesecake. Cant remember the name of it. I could down a pint in a single shift at work. As a matter of fact I did about 2 times a week. When I was mega fat that is. I don't even miss it now.

Panigale1199 -- if I could herbal teas to stave off hunger, I wouldn't need to be on this site! I'm serious when I say, if I do an all nighter, I have to eat an extra snack or my brain stops working.

knuckles -- My poison was New York Superfudge Chunk. I'm long past the point of downing a pint in an 8-hour shift, and now I can't eat it at all because of my IBS, but I can't say I don't miss it. I love ice cream. I just do. And the fact that it's bad for me doesn't mean it isn't delicious. I'm planning on making some of my own lactose free ice cream when I get back from my July holiday.

Ohhh TRUST me sister. I am HIGHLY aware of how Damned good the worst food for me tastes. I walked into QT today and they were just putting out a freshly sliced double peperoni pizza with extra cheese on the rack. If my tough had eyes, it would have cried them out at how badly I wanted to eat a slice of it.

Knuckles -- I have been having pizza cravings lately. So I decided that my next splurge will be pizza the problem is,it will make me sick, so I have to schedule my pizza splurge when I don't have anywhere to go the next day!

How about gluten free wheat free pizza? I know you are in Chicago area where the pizza is great!

I gotta tell you HCB, most gluten free baked goods are just awful. And the reality is, if they are made from rice flour and tapioca flour, you really might just as well eat directly from the sugar bowl. I'll just bite the bullet (and the real pizza) and be sick. I'd rather only have great pizza twice a year than bad pizza on a regular basis. P.S. I do have a great gluten free muffin recipe made with oat flour, and I make great buckwheat pancakes, but that's about as far as I go with the gluten-free stuff.
