I've had a couple of weird experiences and am wondering if it's just me (please tell me it's not) or what! A couple of times after eating a carb heavy meal I've gone ballistic on my husband. It's almost like I can see myself doing it but can't stop. Poor guy didn't know what to do. The first time was the worst. I started in on him for bidding on something at a charity silent auction. It wasn't a big deal and that IS what we were there for but I felt totally out of control. The second time I was able to recognize the feeling and pull back. Both times were at a charity dinner. Maybe I need to skip them?

Simple carbohydrates are broken down so fast that they heighten any anxiety sensitivities that you have. Could be that the auction and the bidding on items you were not 100% sure on could bring about an anxiety attack, manifesting itself through verbal defense (yellin' at your husband)

Could it be that time of your life? I am having some hormone issues. And when they hit home, I am so irrational that I do not recognize myself. Scary though. I don't think you can blame it on carbs.

Absolutely! My anxiety and attitude is terrible after eating carbs, and it lasts for days.

I had eaten spaghetti with bread stick and a dessert. I'm usually under 10g carbs a day so this was a large amount of carbs all at once. I don't think it was hormones as that "time" has been done, dusted, and put away once and for all! The second time was chili and a dessert. Not as much carbs and was able to recognize the crabby-ness. Hey, crabby/carby- maybe there IS a correlation!

I bet so! lol Oh, yes, gluten and sugar is the worst for my entire body and mind. There is actually a lot of research that this is common with a lot of people. These are the things that let me know that I'm not in the "fortunate" group that can handle them. It sucks, but it is my reality. The mental issues they cause help keep me on track just as much if not more than weight gain.

I totally agree,, I feel so much calmer and able to deal with life when I don't eat Crabs,, that's one reason I don't eat carbs among many many many more !

Sometimes just being on a diet can cause us to be more easily aggravated maybe it's simply that of course the easiest thing to do is to explain your situation clearly and hope that your partner is sympathetic

At 53 I'd say your just experiencing those side effects of going through menopause. Still, if the anxiety & anger is out of left field and not your usual personality, I'd ask your doctor or ob-gyn. I mean, it's not like this is the first time in your life you've had spaghetti & dessert, right? At your starting weight of 275 you probably at tons of carbs but didn't blow up at your hubby afterwards.
