Doodlehead's Journal, 24 November 2015

Did okay today. Major sugar craving this evening though. It's irritating me - images of crispy cream donuts with strawberry frosting keep bugging my brain. Thank goodness there is no sugar in the house..OHHhew...except...for that eggnog, I just remembered I stupidly agreed to buy it the other day. Lesson being learned. This sugar addiction is sneaky. I'm not sure I can resist that eggnog right now....ohh...ergh...whaa..(sigh)......Okay, I just took a break from this journal entry and ran and poured the eggnog out before I could argue myself out of it. YAY! Problem solved. Still have the cravings but now I can't satisfy it. HA! Take the sugar craving!! I won this round.

I have been known to make toast only to trow it out the window the moment it pops, what ever gets you through the day I say!!

I have also dealt with a major sugar addiction for years as well as other family members. I have tried total abstinence which never works for me personally. Nowadays I keep a strict diet and if I am below my caloric intake I allow a sugar snack. I also never have bags of cookies, etc, at hand, but buy something small with less calories to indulge in. Also once a week I allow myself something excessive, but when doing so I still stay within my caloric daily allowance. If I have a ton of sweets on hand I will eat everything, but if I only buy one item it is much more controlled. It also helps living in Tokyo as the supermarkets just don't have tons of junk compared to the US or Canada. I also never shop at places like COSTCO which they have here. That being said, if I truly wanted the junk I could find it. I think a balanced approach is best once one gets things under control emotionally and body-wise. That's just my two cents for what its worth..

I know exactly how you feel. I had the "battle of the donut holes" at Halloween and finally threw them in the freezer. Told my husband if he wanted them he would have to thaw only what he wanted, I couldn't stand them looking at me!
