I know the bariatric program where I live has stopped doing the sleeve due to problems. I know someone who had hers removed when food was blocked and collected in the esophogus. She vomited everything. This was 6 or 8 months after surgery.

my sister had this too and looks great BUT the side effects are horrible. She has had 5 more surgeries since then. I did my weight loss the old fashion way and all though its taking much longer and Ive only lost half of what she did, I don't care bc knowing what she is still going thru I would never consider the surgery now.

I know someone who had the sleeve also. It helps initially but the work afterwards is the same as if you never had it in the first place. Easier and healthier to not do it!

Look at surgery as an absolute last resort! I have two friends that have had a horrible quality of life since having it done!

Me personally, I'm not gonna let ANY doctor cut on me... The key to weight loss is meal plans and physical activity. If you want my opinion,. DON'T DO IT! You can burn fat off by paying more attention to meal planning and scheduling the appropriate cardio and/or weight training. I've seen to many people make amazing progress by doing what they needed to do instead of going to get cut on. However, ultimately, it's your decision. Do whatever feels right for you.

You do not weigh so much that you cannot lose weight through dedication and healthy changes - I weighed a lot more than you when I started and I have done it with nutrition and exercise. There is no easy way - the surgery, I feel, if for folks who are morbidly obese and just cannot lose due to metabolic issues.

I was 300lbs and was suggested to do the sleeve. I choose not too. I have a long journey, but i have hope that I will get there. Now im 276lbs and have been getting support from a weight watchers group. it feels great to go to a place where everyone has the same problem.

That's a drastic measure & expensive. Rather than spend $10 thou plus, consider a personal trainer & lose the weight the healthy way. Gastric sleeve yes, will remove the kg's however it will not change how you think about food etc. I also know 2 friends who had this procedure, & both look most unhealthy. Please, at least speak to your GP and a dietitian. Good luck.

Hi Harley, I was weighing in at 95.5kg 30 days ago and seriously thinking about taking out a loan to get the lap band surgery done because I was getting dangerously close to the 100kg mark and knew that would be the end of my self esteem, happiness etc.... but when I researched people who had actually had it done there was so very many horrific absolutely horsey stories about never ending follow up surgeries, horrendous stomach pain, vomiting etc.....; it can really be very dangerous and cause you a lot of long term pain & heartache ~ not to mention all of that money those surgeons can't wait to get their hands on ~ don't forget that these guys are salesmen after all ~ they have got a product to sell & they prey on confused, desperate fatties who believe everything they say ~ please thoroughly research it first and then bite the bullet and do it the slower but safer more natural way like the rest of us here and we'll all be here to support you along the way. Ciao for now Jilly.beans 👍🏽😃
