Frosty. I am this close to being right there with you. I have no idea why I'm still trying to trust these guys. If 10 doesn't live up, I'm likely moving to a different OS. In fact, it's my belief that they're offering 10 to 7 and 8 users for free only because they knew they'd lose us completely if they waited for us to buy a new box with 10.

how do i download

First you have to update everything. Turn off any 3rd party virus scanner and restart windows protector (not sure you have to restart protector, but not a bad idea if you'd dropped the 3rd party). Search for windows 10 upgrade and make sure you're on a microsoft site. You can then request to be put in the cue to 'upgrade' (still hoping here). It may still be asking you to 'reserve' a copy. That's okay too. It will take about a day to download the program. I think it's 20 gb in size. It will download in the background and notify you when it's ready to install.

What I heard and have no idea if it is true. They're giving everyone a free upgrade but in the future you will be charged monthly.

My husband just put windows ten on our desktop, so far so good.

Supposed to be no charge, is what they said when I bought my windows 8 computer last year. I am not a fan of windows 8 that is on both my lap top and my tablet. That is also what their web site is saying. I'll give it a week or so and maybe the site won't be as busy. I had the message yesterday to reserve mine.

Yeah, I gave up windows last year. Apple products now...

I think they've got a problem and that's market share. Apple and Android are knocking at the door in a big way and Microsoft is playing keep up. I think it's a mistake. They're trying to close the differences, meaning they're following. They should pick their corner and lead in that corner. I think they're in huge trouble.

Where is that like button?

Downloaded mine this AM . . . so far, so good.

I downloaded it but reversed it back to 8.1 after just one day. It won't let you attach files in the Web based outlook and that is a crucial part of my job.

I've always found outlook to be an issue. Even before windows 8 I found it was a hassle.

i reserved mine because I hate 8, 7 was ok going to be a wait ans see but not ready for me yet and I have no time to deal with the change yet

Might have to give it a try on my laptop, I can always restore 7 quickly from a backup if needed. But I like the tried and true XP on this old but reliable machine.

I liked XP but it won't run on the newer computers, I have it on my old desk top in the basement that computer has it's own issues.

Jduke, maybe that has been a reported issue that they are working on, they always come out with some glitches. I work for a company who makes software for the financial industry and actually am in a contracted mutual fund customer service team using that software, we always seem to be the guinea pigs on new things.
