Its not what you eat. its how much!! Calories in vs. calories out!!

I highly doubt that, i took in 4.5k in calories last night which is much more than the pizza and poutine days and i lost weight. Calories don't matter as much as type of food.

Sorry typo meant to type 3.5, but i over estimated that too, see below total is about 2800 i think vs 1800 on the cheat day Cheat Day: 1 Poutine = 1300 Cals, 1 Bullet Proof Coffee = 600 Cals + 3.6lbs YesterDay: 1 10oz Grass Fed Steak 540 cals 2 Bullet Proof Coffees = 1200 Cals 2 cups of jasmine rice = 300 cals 1 apple 100 cals 1 banana 80 cals 1 large bowl of spinach with balsamic vin and other veggies tossed in = 300ish cals; bullet proof ice cream = 325 cals -3.0 lbs

http://www.diet-blog.com/09/30_day_pizza_diet.php It's all about the CICO.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/180m2s/i_lost_65_lbs_by_eating_pizza_and_doing_ss_i/ And another anecdote. But really, it's all about calories.

can you supply a link that works? i have to disagree, going from over 300 lbs to 200 lbs in under 4 months eating more in cals doesn't seem to agree with you.

Man that's frustrating. I just Googled "Lost weight on pizza". There's also the Twinkie diet professor, again, just google "Twinkie Diet". This really comes down to basic thermodynamics - you can't gain weight eating less than you burn off, and you can't lose weight eating more than you burn off (water weight fluctuations not withstanding).

If you look at the study in that article you posted, protein didn't affect body fat percentage - the people who ate more protein gained more muscle along with the fat gained, which makes sense since muscle building requires protein.

lol.. If I get 1000 Calories from Brown Rice or If I get 1000 Calories from a poutine its still 1000 Calories... the brown rice may have better Micro-nutrients (Vitamins) but its still 1000 Calories. if your under the impression that FATS make us fat then you are way wrong. Its exceeding out daily Calorie requirements that make us fa, t IE eating overones caloric maintenance levels... If a 180lbs man needs 1500 calories per day to maintain his weight.. as long as he gets the 1500 calories each day regardless where they come from his weight will be maintained... Calories in vs Calories out. Its cut and dry Science. read into it!!

I don't think fats make you fat, as i intake a large amount each day in grass fed butter and coconut oils. if you're not consuming the sugars to process the calories into fat, then you're just going to pass a good chunk of them, which means cals don't matter. explain to me how eating 1500 cals a day on the diet i was on that took me from 200 lbs to 320 lbs vs the diet that took me from 300 to 200 consuming 1500 to 2500 cals a day. neither of them included working out at all so my cal out didn't change, just what i was eating changed [including taking in more cals] i did read into it that is why i'm no longer 300 lbs.

You count calories poorly, that's how.

People do what works for them.

Please expand on how I count calories poorly. I would like to see what I am doing wrong.

The more I read, the more I am still not agreeing with 1 cal = 1 cal. The amount of energy required to burn the different sources is different. How your body breaks them down is different. I am not saying that consuming 1500 cals and burning 2000 cals will not result in a net loss of weight. you can lose the same weight by changing what you eat even if the new food source is more than 2000 cals. I found another decent read on healthyenough.net on cal counting. on a side note, i have enjoyed this chat and the additional reading i have done so far, thank you.
