Please spend some time, today and tomorrow,AND EVERY Day... being thankful for those Americans who gave their lives so we can enjoy the freedoms we have. Started in 1866 as “decoration day” to honor the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War, it evolved to include all soldiers who died in any war fought by the United States. It was celebrated for many years on May 30th. In 1971, Congress officially established this day as Federal Holiday which would be celebrated every year on the last Monday in May. (USA Today)
