BuffyBear's Journal, 31 March 2015

DH doesn't not understand why losing weight requires so much time spent on the computer. At first glance it doesn't make much sense to me either. So I decided to list the (legitimate) reasons:

Tracking: weight loss progress & food.

Research: diets, nutrition, and anything else pertaining to healthy weight loss, as well as seeking recipes and ideas for meal planning.

Support: I NEED encouragement. My lapses go hand in hand with my absences from my FS support system.

Does this make sense to anyone else?

Perfect sense...and while we don't want to be obsessive with it...it does take some time and effort to read, digest, and answer posts and messages. Mutual respect and thoughtful posts do require time to build...however I believe the RESULTS are WORTH the investment. If we could do it ALONE we all would have done it a LONG time ago. Blessings on you and DH and your journey today!!!!! :)

Absolutely! I do the exact same thing! I tell people FS and nutrition is my "hobby" along with exercise. It is my part-time job!

Wouldn't it be great if we could rig a stationary bike to power the computer? Then we could claim that we were getting exercise out of the computer, too!

I agree with HCB ... it is my part-time job.

YES!!! Absolutely! I will say this though, after you get close to your goal it gets easier to not have to log on as much because you'll be set in your healthy habits that FS has helped you with. I have lots of buddies who met their goal, are keeping it, and only log on every once in a while now. Me? Oh, I'm back to being on here everyday!

Yes it does help but why do all the men have to be referred to as DH? lol
31 Mar 15 by member: Rockiesfan
Rockiesfan - because FS won't let us print some of the names we'd like to call them.

Buffy - just chuckling at your last comment. I've been called of few of those names in the past, often deservingly so. I'll try informing my wife that in the future she should refer to me as Dear Husband, wonder how that will go over? :)

MOST of the time...Linda...lol...once in a while I suspect...dumb, danged, Or dense may be what wives are thinking as they write "DH "...LOL....

Hey guys - I enjoyed all your comments! And for the record, DH is Bill, but there are so many Bills on here I wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong idea :)

Like your reasoning for being on the computer, Buffy. In my mind at least I'm not playing stupid mindless games. You could convert the D in DH to lots and lots of things.

This site is not only very informative, its support you have from everyone is addicting in a good healthy way. He might just miss you being around him, mine does. They say men are from mars... woman are from venus, and sometimes things are not clear with one another. see if you can resolve it by talking about having your time for your journey your on and then after that hubbys time or vise versa but it sounds like hes a good guy:)

hey it's all good, DH, DW, are enduring terms as far as the internet is concerned.

My own Decent Husband has also questioned why I also seem to be on FS in the evenings, but I think he is catching on--he can see that this helps and whatever I am doing is working, so he has stopped asking questions. :)

Mine knows what I'm doing and doesn't give me any problems. He knows how important tracking is to me and the support system. Of course it probably helps that I don't give him a hard time about his sports pages.

At first I thought DH was domestic husband, but then I found out it meant dear husband. I think it's good to know that. DW=dear wife, DD=dear daughter, DS=dear son, etc.
