Did fairly well today, except for too much diet soda. I've been realizing the benefits of drinking more water, so I'm going to get back to that. I have at least got myself in the habit of when I get ice through the frig door, I immediately put the glass under the water tap in the door. I did that the other night when I had actually planned to have soda. Talk about changing habits!
Saturday was supposed to be the start of a 5-day mini-vacation for me and I ended up working late Friday night, working part of the day on Saturday, and waking up to alerts this morning and having to work a few hours today as well. Hoping tomorrow will truly be work-free at least from my job - lots of things I need to do around home. But I've already talked myself out of getting a "treat" for having to work so hard. What is it that makes us think junk food is a "treat" for anyone?

You take a vacation like my husband does! Make sure you take some time to relax and take care of yourself. Your question about junk food is what I have been thinking about. I have tried to be very, very aware the past few months about using junk food as a reward for the kids or as a consolation or motivation. I want them to avoid all those food hang ups that so many of us adults struggle with.

Yeah. I saw a thing about this time last year that said the following: You are not a dog. Stop rewarding yourself with food.

So, when I went into the drug store with the tempting pastry aisle this morning to pick up my prescription, I walked right past the pastries and onto the makeup aisle where I picked up some new foundation and mascara, which I haven't worn for years. And I had much more fun and not any guilt spending 15 minutes just reveling over my options. Then I went to the grocery store and loaded up on fruit and high-fiber bread. Didn't miss the pastries at all.
