jmb3450's Journal, 29 January 2015

According to the scale I've finally worked off last weekend's splurge and am under my last weigh-in. Today I'll target 1500 calories again which will bring my 7 day average intake to about 1860 calories. That's in the range for a respectable loss, in theory anyway. Crossing my fingers that the scale will be in agreement, if so that would be great, but if not it isn't a problem. I continue to see and feel the differences in my body.

Yesterday I picked up some Mission Carb Balance Whole Wheat Tortillas - Burrito size. One tortilla is 210 calories, 9 grams protein, 32 grams carbs but 26 grams fiber so only 6 grams net carbs. I'd planned on using one half of a tortilla as a wrap for my tuna but ended up just eating the entire wrap and it filled me up so I skipped the tuna and had it with dinner. At 6 grams net carbs IMO this is an excellent option to look at for LCHF or Atkins dieters - it's like eating bread without having all the carbs.

Hope everyone has a great day, let's do what is in our power to make that happen.

La Tortilla Factory makes an extra virgin olive oil tortilla that's similar, but 100 calories, 3.5 grams fat, 13 grams fiber...and they're super soft and yummy :)

I'll have to check the La Tortillas out Socolova, thanks. Mission also has a smaller size of them probably similar to that, they were about half the nutritional value of the burrito size. I got the larger size because it was almost twice as much product for only 30 cents more and I figured I could cut them in half if I wanted.

lol Socolova....now I've got to check them out!! In this case more = less = better. :) Where do you get them, I don't recall seeing that brand in the store before.

I would go to their website, they have non-GMO, gluten-free, minis, hand-made, organic...and they taste great :) I found them at Piggly Wiggly but those are very prevalent, but I believe you can buy them off of the La Tortilla Factory site :)

There's also wheat-less, low carb/high fiber...and then there are different flavors within those categories

Thanks for the info, I'll look online. You must live South of me - I'm in MD. I remember Piggly Wiggly's when I lived in either SC or FL.

I'm actually in Wisconsin....it seems they are up here and then south and nowhere inbetween lol

There is a store locator on their site but you have to search by what type of tortilla too and there's like 20 to choose from so it's kind of annoying to go one by one

I think tortillas are one of the most versatile foods out there...you can use them to make low carb pizzas, wraps, chips, quesadilla/tacos, lasagna, hamburger rolls...holy smokes we use them for everything!

Great post. Good job. Looking forward to the day I can add that back into my meals. I will remember those. Thanks!

Hobobeaver - are you in the induction phase now? If so hopefully once you're past it you can carefully add it into your diet. Tastes great AND it's filling. :)

The Mission "Carb Balance" tortillas taste great. My family cannot tell that they are low carb or high fiber. L-O-V-E them!
