myawethinTICself's Journal, 29 October 2014

Today a buddy has reached the target goal weight that she had set for herself just 11 months & 3 days ago.
She has said that she just may be the slowest one to ever lose weight on fat secret. Whether she is or not really doesn't matter unless she was trying to set a record as such because what will be remembered about her is that she set out to achieve something for herself & she did just that. That, just like an arrow in a skilled warriors mighty hand, she shot straight thru all the way!
Were there obstacles in her targets path? Were there fears that she might not make it?Were there physical, mental, emotional struggles along the way? You bet'cha! Life is full of all that & more, regardless of what one does. But when the path you choose to travel is laden with fallen soldiers & you know the battle you choose to fight is never-ending how do you keep from being defeated?
She carried a banner:Stay Positive
When under the penetrating heat of her war,no doubt it's waving before her gave her strength she didn't know she possessed. She had, unknowingly perhaps, set a pace of what seemed like eternity but that didn't deter her efforts to continue on in the face of her adversities. In fact, perhaps, that too, enabled her to keep steady & ever onward.
Who is this valiant warrior? Her name is "Deb".
Look for her banner! See her arrow shot straight thru all the way! Read the battle & how she won it in her own words! Know that *she* made it thru & *we* can too!

Deb,I dedicate a night walk in celebration of your losing *66* pounds!!! I hope all your buddies on fat secret will join me tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Congratulations!!!

Celebrating Deb is wonderful! She is our banner and we will stay positive because of her influence. I think that her progress was for the most part very steady, not fast but certainly not slow. So now we will enjoy her encouragement as we move toward our goals. Buddies. J

Yes, I agree. If my back weren't totally acting up, I would take that celebratory walk to honor Deb. Now she and I can be "goal buddies" in addition to FS buddies. I reached my goal yesterday :-) She lost quite a bit more than me, though, so I am extending big koodos to her.

Deb, if you read this I want you to know that Keeper walked with me tonight! :) He doesn't walk with *me* hardly ever,he doesn't hardly ever walk! At first he said I made him,but that isn't true. After awhile he was looking at the sky & the silver, sliver of moon that sat in stark contrast to the blackness of the night. "It's beautiful, huh?" I asked. He nodded & gasped,"It is!" :) We walked quietly & slower than I had planned when I decided I was going to celebrate YOU, but I decided that it was more appropriate . After all, didn't you say that you probably were the *slowest* at losing the weight than anyone on fs? ;) And a celebration is for enjoying ones self & I so want Keeper to enjoy this walk. I want him to enjoy walking period. He asked why I was walking after dark & I explained that a buddy on fs had lost 66 lbs & reached her goal weight & I thought this would be a neat way to celebrate with her (you). He replied that I didn't know you. I agreed, not really, but it's a nice thing to do,& I would hope that when *I* reach my goal of losing 70 lbs *someone* wants to celebrate with *me*! I looked up at him. Silence. I looked at the road in front of me.Then smiling I said, "I'm gonna tell her you walked tonight!" After a brief hesitation he replied back,"Tell her to send us some $ for this marathon." :) He was enjoying the walk! I enjoyed it too. Hope YOU enjoyed us celebrating with you tonight. :)

Gillian, way to go! :) I'm sure Deb will appreciate that you showed up in honoring her even if you're unable to join the walk. :)

Thank you Sharon! That's sweet :) I decided *I* need to approach my weight "management" (loss at the moment-maintenance later) similar to a Search & Rescue Mission. If I *search out* the areas that have put me in harms way or have caused me to need help in the past & *do all in my power to take decisive action* to ensure that those things wont knock me out & leave me stranded again, then *I* am my own hero :) I am the one who comes to save the day! I *need* to be *my* Hero :)

Wonderful supportive journal - honoring another member that way. I think we could all take a page from your book of inspirations here. Well done.
